Rocky Marciano vs James "Bonecrusher" Smith

Who knows? Marciano is greater, but also a heluva lot smaller than Bones Smith.... My guess is Marciano is more workman like, but Smith has the size and strength to hold and grab Marciano to death in order to turn the fight into a stinker...... A toss-up.........

Marciano was just about as crude as Smith later in his career, I know that. Clubbing people to death. :think

 

Smith never had what it took to beat Rocky, whether Marciano came in at 180 pounds, 190 pounds or whatever.

 

Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

While ther might be issues regarding how Marciano would cope with the better superheavyweights I am verry verry confident about how he would handel the second teir.

Nino Valdez was probably better than Smith.

 

Bones Smith was often "Lazy Bones," but when a fire was lit under his ass, he could strike back.... KO's over "Bruno, Weaver & Spoon" were wicked..... And Smith's wins over "Ferguson & Bey" were good and solid....

It would be a boring fight. James wins some rounds and looks a lot better than he does against Tyson, but he losses more than he wins, and in the end can't fend Rocky off.

 

Tyson at 220 pounds of muscle was stronger physically than the 188 pound Marciano... That is pretty factual....... So if Smith was able to tie up Tyson for 12 rds, I can see Smith tying up Marciano pretty much the same....... Bones Smith in his prime was pretty buffed and solid at 227 pounds.... Yes, slow as ****, but powerful and strong.........

Marciano was a lot better on the inside than Tyson both legaly and ilegaly.

That might be important.

I would also advise you not to underestimate Rocky's strength. His legs could push almost anybody around.

 

Be as it may, but no way Marciano was stronger than Lazy Bones...... And Marciano never fought anyone as ripped or powerful on the inside as Bones Smith of '86 / '87...... Smith's skills stunk... But his size, strength, power and grabbing technique would allow him to manhandle Marciano enroute to losing a decision over 10, 12 or 15 rds........ Smith would survive Marciano........

Its VERY possible....... Smith of 1986 and 227 ripped pounds of muscular bulk would dwarf the 188 to 192 lb. Marciano of 1952-'54 with little doubt.... It is reasonable to conclude that Smith would be eager to engage the smaller Marciano early on..... And, let's look at the facts, neither man was a defensive wizard; both ate some leather..... Though Marciano gets the advantage cuz of his bob & weave tactics while crouching down on his knees'...... Still, point is, both guys got tagged in their primes.......

NOW! Marciano's power was there, but, also fabled if placed in the era of big mothers of the post 1960s heavies.....

Lazy Bones Smith did eat power shots from "Bruno, Holmes, Spoon, Ferguson, Bey, Weaver and Moorer" during his career..... And ONLY Larry Holmes was able to batter Smith enough to force a TKO stopping...... Smith was limited, but rugged and tuff........

I disagree, but in that case Marciano's power and activity grinds up Bonecrusher. I feel bad for Smith's body after this fight if he feels the need to go toe to toe without clinching.
