Apparently if macklin wins his next scheduled fight he becomes mandatory for Pavlik. He was at the fight last night to call him out.

Do you give macklin a chance?

I think Pavlik wins this one but could be a good fight. Macklin has a bang on him so you never know.

Pavlik wipes the floor with him, I'm afraid.

There will be a lot of excitement over Pavlik beating a clueless jobber last night. Let's not count Macklin out just yet.

Pavlik is too protected and I can't see Top Rank giving Macklin a shot to be honest. I think Macklin would be underdog but has a realistic chance of beating pavlik.

I'd give Macklin a better shot than a Lockett, Rubio or Espino because he's a level above those guys. Is he genuine world class? Could he take Pavlik's shots? If Macklin found his way into the second half of the fight I'd give him a genuine chance of doing it.

I think that Macklin has got a very good chance against Pavlik and should not be written off...:yep

Clearly shows the route that he is going to take...hopefully all roads will lead to a domestic clash with Darren Barker...:good

I reckon they see Macklin as a fighter that has a good record and ranking but has been between by two Eurobum journeyman so shouldnt pose much threat to Kelly. They are misjudging the Knife - he is a different fighter today than he was two years ago and judging by Pavliks performance last night I pick Macklin - seriously! If you present Pavlik with angles he struggles if you stand they infront of him (as John Duddy wont) we will pound you down but if you bombard him with an enslaught of bobbing, weaving and movement he will struggle.

However, I was dissapointed to not hear Arum or Pavlik even mention Macklin at the end of the fighter and they saved all their vitriol for Williams.

Pavlik is too much for Macklin now. I would sooner see matthew against Strum or Slvester

I think it's a harder fight than either Sylvester or Sturm for Macklin, but wouldn't rule him out.

After being massively overrated Pavlik now seems to be very underrated after the Hopkins fight and all these recent troubles, certainly in the general forum anyway. I think he takes Macklin out within 8.

agreed ... Pavlik is exceptionally good and one fact in his defeat to Hoppo that is never really mentioned is the fact Pavlik had a serious virus in the run up to this fight and his performance showed this .... im not saying he would have won but look at Pavs stats in previous fights aka punch output compared to the Hopkins bout .... there were valid excuses that night

Pavlik is a good champion but the Matthew is far better at middleweight than he was at LM. Id give him a good chance of being a world champion in 2010 against any of the current belt holders.
