It's got nothing to do with excitement though. I'm talking about his ability here, being 'exciting' doesn't help you become world-class.

They aren't 'glancing blows' though. A 'glancing blow' is a shot that will graze and won't land flush. Those cuffing punches are landing pretty much flush, but they aren't doing as much damange. They are just clubbing punches. The guy has absolutely no punching technique in combination whatsoever.

Wrong. A solid contender at this point like possibly Katsidis or a DeMarco is a solid B- fighter. Pitalua isn't, because he isn't a contender at all. 39 years of age 17 years as a pro and struggling to make weight at the time and barely able to fight twice a year for the proceeding 4 or 5 years against journeyman.

he is fighting demarco next so lets see how that pans out.

i'm not saying he's the best fighter in the world, i'm saying he's one of my favourite fighters, and i highly rate his power.

His power is real but can't say much for his defense and wild aggression. You don't stop 19 opponents in the first round if you don't have power regardless of competition. He needs a good trainer like Roach to teach him patience and defense. Mosquera and Pitalua were solid B fighters and all were very durable and tough. They don't get stopped often and that even applies to Velazquez who was only stopped by Pacquiao in 6 rounds not counting stoppages early in his career. Valero's problem isn't his power it's his wildness and lack of defense. It's possible he just fights down to his opponents level because while sparring against great fighters he looks like a million bucks.

Tyron Brunson stopped 19 opponents in a row in the first round. Where's his power been his last couple of fights?

I'm not saying Valero can't punch. I'm saying I doubt whether he'd be able to hurt solid B/B+ or A level guys and knock them out left, right and centre aswell.

Maybe, I hope so, I'm not entirely convinced of DeMarco though either. He was pretty wild against Alfaro, if leaves himself wide open against Valero he might regret it.
