I understand what your saying...i think your underestimating Hatton and Cotto though. Cotto uses the ring extremely well, as evidenced in his win over Mosley, and Hatton's speed and awkward style gave floyd problems in the first few rounds. Also, the door of preparation swings both ways. If Floyd thinks that the JMM was an indicator of how the Manny fight will be, he's severely underestimating Manny. Who has Floyd fought to prepare him for this version of manny? Hatton? JMM? Judah? I'm truly convinced that no opponent will be able to prepare Manny for Floyd and no opponent will be able to prepare Floyd for Manny. That is what makes this fight so intriguing. BTW, i still don't think this fight happens.
Pacquiao is a smarter fighter than people give him credit for. Honestly, he's around one of the most brilliant boxing brains in Roach, does anyone doubt that he didn't rub off on him? I've heard Pacquiao talking strategy and it is always sharp stuff. People just can't look past the accent.
i dont really understand how this connects with manny fighting floyd, because for one, cotto isnt half as effective as floyd fighting backwards, and i do think hatton winning the early rounds was in due part to floyd trying to figure him out. here's the thing, floyd already knows what to expect from pac (as we all do), and that's nonstop aggression for 12 rounds. he will definitely have something prepared for that. on the other hand, things are much more unpredictable with floyd, as he will adapt to whatever's in front of him. will he fight on the inside, on the backfoot or press the action? i think we'll see a mixture.
Wow...somehow I think Floyd will give Manny a lot more respect than you are showing. Manny wasn't the aggressor against Hatton, nor was he the aggressor against DLH...he showed everyone that he could take a legitimate Welterweight punch when he fought Cotto...he has become a boxer puncher who can fight at angles and counter effectively. Everyone already realizes that Floyd is a complete fighter, but for some strange reason, there are a lot of fight fans who still don't understand that this version of the Pacmonster is a complete fighter as well.
it still comes down to facts and figures , Mayweather throughout his career has had all opponents figured out by the 4th round, whether they are fast , quick , tall , strong , southpaw . Mannny on the other hand hasnt , and even though he beat cotto well , being hyper critical he did take a few shots , and mayweather doesnt.
Facts and figures, huh? has Floyd ever fought a multi-dimensional fighter like this version of Pac? Notice how I am careful to use the term "this version of Pac"? i don't think most Floyd fans understand yet that Floyd won't be fighting the same guy that had a draw with Marquez. if Floyd can figure out the fighter who destroyed Hatton, DLH, and Cotto, then he truly is an ATG. No wonder a lot of Floyd fans continue to regurgitate the ridiculous idea that he won't get any credit for beating Pac.
This is the question. The lurking suspicion remains that Pac man may look very one-dimensional against PBF. This will be a true test of Pacquiao's timing and punch selection. Can he home in on an elusive target?
both fighters have never seen anything like each other so that point is mute. Both are the best at what they do so they will offset each other. It comes down to in fight adjustments...who makes them and how fast they make them...how fast can Floyd adapt to Pac's speed and figure his own timing out. How does Pac adjust to the reach advantage Floyd has as well as the safety first approach not being there for him to hit but having to stalk and open himself up to punishment to get to Floyd. This will be chess people...not checkers like Cotto, Oscar and Hatton all of whom thought they could go toe to toe with Pac...they all stalked Pac or stood there for him to hit not respecting his skill and power....Floyd will respect Pac from begining thats jsut the way he is and that is why he is a safety first fighter...you have to FULLY respect the other fighter.
Pac doesn't need to have any ring IQ to fight Floyd. Trying to adapt to Floyd will not work, Pac has to concentrate on bringing his A-game, that's all. Roach will drill into Pac where, when and how to punch to maximize his effectiveness against the shoulder roll (same as he told Pac how to land best on Hatton), and all Pac has to do is keep that in mind, keep moving all the time, and keep throwing punches. Pac is not the type of fighter to cater his whole style and fightplan for a specific opponent, he is not Bernard Hopkins.
You are only breaking down the "facts and figures" from a surface level. If you take into account the level of opposition and the type of dominance you'll see a completly different picture of the potential outcome of the fight. PAC has dominated common foes in a more onsided fashion than floyd and Floyd has dominated JMM in a onsided fashion moreso than PAC was able. So it actually comes down to styles.....styles make fights and both present a very difficult style to each other. Floyd may or may not be able to figure out Manny b/c Manny has a very spuratic style....it's not going to be easy to figure out his next move like Floyd likes. ANd that in itself will be a huge problem for Floyd.
and what is pac. attack attack,, get hit get hit, hold hands up "IM OK MUM", attack attack, get hit get hit, hold hands up " IM OK DAD":rofl:rofl:rofl
to be honest i dont believe Pac is very calculated in the ring...he is just so good at what he does and executes it so flawless. you can see the difference in their styles....Floyd is very precautuius because he is analysing everything and he is able to adapt in midfight because he does so. pac is like a machine man he gets in that ring and he is going to do what he does...has he improved of course but the basis is still the same with Pac he just have improved his skill set more....there is nothing analytical about his approach..he is going to produce high pressure bring the fight and it will be fast paced. I could be wrong though.
But you gotta think that his trainer has trained guys like B Hop and Toney in addition to all of his other fighters. I think he knows what he's doing and he'll do everything in his power to share his knowledge with Manny and make sure that he's prepared. He knows Mayweather's style and knows how to break it down, it just comes down to whether or not Pac is the man to do it.
WTF, who needs IQ to run around, lift shoulder, and put both arm to cover your face? my 2 years old kid can do that. maybe agility is what hes talking about.
