I can see your point, however i staunchly disagree... Hatton doesn't need to sell tickets that way anymore, he is 1 of the biggest fighters in terms of popularity of the last 10 years. I dont want to get into a debate but my reckoning is that Hatton doesnt want anyone to challenge him, he justs wants to be told what he wants to hear by a yes man. He wants to go on the lash and eat crap for 6 months and be told he has deserved it and that it isnt a problem. His views on his talent is as shocking as his diet. The guy isnt even the best in britain yet he believes 6 months ago he was fighting for 'p4p#1'. Other than that prince Naz was the most deluded, he said he couldn't be stopped cos Allah was backing him. Shame Barrera pissed all over that.
Utter bull****. How do you know he wants a yes man. His last fight was with Mayweather Sr. Is he a yes man?? No
Did it work out with Mayweather snr, did hatton abide by snr regime of not balooning between fights, did he abide by snr's commands of more defence, did he go back to hit and hold and do the things that snr told him not to do. With Beard he will revert back to this again just you wait:bart
I seem to rememeber the problem with Snr in the training camp for pac man was that Snr wasn't turning up for training or was turning up late and arguing with Beard all the time?! But hey
I think for a fighter to be successful he has to be at least a little deluded. If everytime someone tells you you'll amount to nothing you believe them, you'll achieve nothing. In boxing there are a lot of people who love to say I told you so without ever taking the risks. Those people **** me off. Naz was very deluded in a sense, but who knows maybe his belief in 'his' god was a source of great strength to him. How about Holyfields love of the Christian version when he beat Tyson? Most successful fighters are good self talkers, the voice in their head is a positive one with no surrender. The guys without this positive voice cannot train sufficiently to cope with any consistency at championship level. Life is a great journey- its funny we rip into guys like Hatton, Joe Calzaghe etc on these forums, but in terms of your normal bloke on the street these guys are incredibly hard workers and dared to risk it all. Amazing really. You can either be part of the parade or watch it go by.
Without a doubt my post of the year, spoke alot of sense mate, Like i say i appreciate hatton and prop him for his talent. IMO as said is he has become a bloke who has done it and got t-shirt he probably believes that the way he won titles in the past with his gung-ho body punching take a punch to land a punch style. He doesnt want to change his style which is unwise for his health, he enjoys his partying and feasts etc and fair play to him. All i am saying is a proper boxer who diets and stays in shape and fights with abit of versatility and follows a gameplan i.e Hopkins. Hatton when mentioning himself as #p4p1 showed guys like hopkins little respect. thoughts...
It seemed to work in the Malignaggi fight and obviously in the Pac fight it went terribly but with Snr turning up late ect...I think both were to blame. My initial point was ,I agree with you Hattons dieting is an absolute joke, yes he may be a bit deluded but I dont think your qualified to be saying that he wants a yes man as there's no evidence to support this.
I absolutly with you, but if you listen to Hatton he's very knowlegable about boxing in general. He would have realised he was no 'p4p champion'. He speaks a bit of bull but thats purely due to his popularity. His less educated fans lap it up. :good
Granted, these fans are the same as 'Khan would KO Mayweather' 'David Haye is the new tyson'. Have in mind i love Haye and Khan but i know they aren't the best in the division, as you can tell i dont like hype. Jeff you have got the jist of what i mean, now for uzi. The comments i make about beard of from seeing, watching and hearing guy, his persona is such that i base my opinion on what i have collected from the things ive seen. I reckon i am bang on the money about beard. Anyway the 3 coaches that can do summat with hatton are; Roach and Steward and possibly Nasim Richardson.
Nobody can do anything with Hatton now.Too late.Maybe a few years ago,but Hatton wasn't willing to make the sacrifices required to maximise his potential.
Beard may very well be a yes man (not that we definately know that)but that doesn't mean you can say Hatton WANTS a yes man. Thats the point I was making. He took a risk in fighting with Mayweather, granted it didn't work out but I respect him for taking that leap in the first place.
