Much like they had a open weight tournament in pride. I actually like this idea because we can see fighters that we can only dream of fighting each other.

Imagine Machida vs lesnar or Machida vs Anderson Silva.

It was fun watching wanderlei silva beat the crap out of fujita in pride. I think it would be great to see the best of different weight class fight each other.

yup he loves to challenge himself against bigger opponents. I love to see bj and gsp going up against the much bigger mw-lhw-hw.

Well no, because as soon as Lesnar got ahold of anybody that was significantly smaller they would be stuffed.

Would probably undo all the hard work done to make UFC a legitimate sport and not a no holds barred street fight organisation.

i would like to see it as a fight fan. if i was interested in the ufc's imagine as a marketing director or something then i probably would steer away because it takes it back to where it once came from.

might not be good if lesnar is bashing bj penn about. might look too blood thirsty.

BUT it would be great to see cos i'm sure there would be some brillant fights like couture smashing up penn only to get armbarred. something brillant like that.

true i would like to see it just so we can watch fights that we can only dream of. Like a GSP-SPIDER showdown. Yes the smaller fighters like penn and gsp would be in a disadvantage cuz of the size but it would still be nice to see the best of different division fight each other.

Why would it do that? It didn't hurt pride fc did it? Infact pride fc had bunch of big money fights cuz of the competition. Wanderlei Silva vs Mirko Crocop was fun to watch. Wanderlei a beast at middleweight fighting crocop who is a beast himself at hw.

The UFC have to make MMA a legitimate sport to survive, not a street fight. As entertaining as it would be to watch an open weight tournament would probably do more harm than good in my opinion.

    This is insane.

So people would like to see BJ get KTFO by Lesnar, or GSP vs Lesnar or BJ vs Anderson.

If they agree to fight them why not? Bj has fought machida before and loss. There's some big welterweight and lightweights who can actually fight at higher weight class.

Anderson can fight at LHW and many LHW can fight at HW.

Machida is defensive and was in that fight.

Any HW vs a LW would be a brutal masacre. Can you imagine Carwin vs Deigo Sanchez. Or any big HW grappler vs Alves/GSP/fitch. It would be brutal.

Hell even big LHWs come in at 215-220. If it was open weight they would come in not drained at 220lbs, I have no inclination or want to see BJ or GSP demolished vs Shogun or Rampage or watever. Let alone a big HW, who could have 90lbs on them come fight night.

    Great Idea!!!

Hey Kenny, you pulled Brock Lesnar in the first round! Pepper him with the jab a bit, circle, jab and circle, work those leg kicks...you got this Kenny!

Ummmm no, I'm not in favor of seeing Vitor Belfort vs Frankie Edgar :rofl

    Unfortunately, I would.

I miss Ketchel vs Johnson from back in the day. David vs Goliath is always a compelling story.
