i dont give a **** about mundine either but danny green is a ****ing bum who couldnt even beat marcus beyer or mundine and moves up in weight and beats a very very average domestic champ in jason delisle and eventually fight for a beats stipe drews for the belt when stipe should have entered the marathon instead.the fact is if he cant beat mundine he cannot be regarded as an aussie legend thats for sure

So choc can cos he beat Green? I'm confused...

Both are good domestic fighters and no-one who knows anything would consider either legends.

Zeke, I apologise, no need for that.

But it seems we're constantly going in circles, some people latch onto facts without the full knowledge of context behind them and in this instance, you got me at a bad moment.

And truly, if you want my feelings on Greens comeback check out my thread on his first comeback fight vs Van Niekirk. I respect his effort vs Jones but I aint no blind follower.

mate to be honest im just over the danny green worldbeater spiel ever since he moved up.he is raping the australian public just like mundine is.the sad fact is when green gets bashed everyone will say
'well he wasnt that good to start with mundine schooled him' so no matter who he beats
[apart from old men who give him a decent payday]he needs to beat mundine to convince the aussie public thats all im saying

All I'll say is after the Lacy fight a lot of us thought it was a bridge too far. Jones looked good but as I said to a few guys off forum, maybe that was his last moment in the sun. Either way I was unsure and I don't think many picked an early KO in the manner it happened. Kudos to Green for a) landing the fight & b) getting the result.

Compare it to Chocs continual self proclamations of being the greatest ever while fighting a never ending line of dodgy imports (but credit the Geale win, but hey, who has Geale beaten?) and you can see the average man in the streets reaction being more favourable towards Green.

Both are guilty of their own smoke and mirrors act.

Its not a matter of race or persona at the end of the day, its a matter of putting boxing back on the map, and in one foul swoop, Green has checkmated Choc. Chrissakes, the next day in WA they were reporting the outcome of Hopkins fight vs Ornelas, pictures and all, when was the last time you saw an o/s bout get coverage like that. usually it would involve a guy called Pacquaio.

Now Green is possibly looking at Hopkins, and despite certain people being up in arms at his age hes top 5 in most p4p lists, #3 in the Ring. Hes certainly maximising his remaining time left.

    Choc?

Chocs fighting Medley for an IBO trinket and lets face it, nobody who follows the sport would have Medley in their top 10 at 154. Lets remember its for a vacant title.

Yes, just like Greens IBO Cruiserweight one.

I'm interested in seeing people who don't normally follow boxing taking an interest. Through that more oppurtunities will follow for the other guys who put in heaps of effort for little reward. (And I will not count the local bs version of The Contender)

One guy is achieving this, looking for big names.

One guy isn't, content to sprout C grade cliches and face lesser known opponents.

At the end of the day, they're both as bad as each other.

But one of them is having a more positive outcome on the direction of the sport.

yeah fair points but **** sticks and green will need/want a rematch with mundine or he will be forever remembered as the guy that was good not great.[sadly though it will be another win to choc in my opinion danny is just so
'ordinary as a fighter hes like paul briggs too predictable and too emotional '

no one would remember 'the tater man' iran barkley had he not ko'd tommy hearns...and there are many more such examples of average fighters koing legends and writing themselves into the history books.

so green does have a point. and if you look at your dictionary, look up the word legend, you will find he is correct. although perhaps not in the eyes of the ******s here who have an 'urban' view of the understanding of what a legend is.
