It's a minefield the world of professional boxing, and in a lot of cases its the spiraling cost of the medical safeguards, visa's and travel which can make a difference in making a profit or not. A guy I know of [not personally], runs unlicenced boxing shows on a regular basis, and by all accounts does very well. as I've stated on numerous occasions there's a huge appetite for boxing in the Belfast area [or beyond that], and an ambitious enough promoter can tap into this interest and maybe make it work for him. That's good to hear, but I hope he doesn't bale on you if the first show doesn't make a profit as has been the case in some other instances. I would hold the first show near you kid. Paul McCausland has booked the Ulster Hall for St Patricks day, and hopes to run two Irish title fights that night.Irish champs Neil Sinclair and Darren Corbett have been mentioned. I'm skeptical whether it will come off or not but it's a possible option for you.
Hyland targets Dunne Paul tells Steve Wellings Munroe is also on his hitlist This content is protected AMBITIOUS: Hyland wants the European belt after the EU FRESH from going over old ground against Eugene Heagney, Irish super-bantamweight champion Paul Hyland feels he is showing marked improvements in his game and is relishing an EU title shot pencilled in for early next year. Brimming with a renewed confidence as the best in Ireland, in and around his weight class, Paul is open to suggestions of a Bernard Dunne fight and feels ready to challenge European king Rendall Munroe. In my mind I want to win the EU belt and then call out Rendall Munroe for the European title, stated the Dubliner, shortly after disposing of Heagney in three one-sided rounds. If Bernard comes he comes, if he doesnt then so be it. Im that confident I dont mind fighting Bernard tomorrow! I feel like whoever I meet next Im going to beat them; theres no point getting into the ring if I dont believe that. Hyland had previously formed a link-up with Frank Maloney as he sought a shot at Ian Napas European bantamweight title. But when Napa submitted the crown to Frenchman Malik Bouziane, Paulie was left exploring other avenues, which will next lead him to Italy. Theyre looking at February 26 for the EU fight in Italy. I cant pronounce my opponents name! Hes European-rated and has a nice stand-up style from what Ive seen. The man in question is 36-year-old David Chianella, a resident of Umbria who sports a 16-5-2 record which, interestingly, reveals four of those losses coming via stoppage, including back-to-back first round knockouts, both times to fighters with losing records. Chianella has done most of his work at Italian title level yet once contested the EU belt at featherweight. In his last bout, at home in June, David won a spurious WBF title, and has been largely inactive. Hyland must be considered favourite, although travelling to anywhere across Europe always carries the possibility of having to battle the officials as well as the opponent. Father and trainer Paddy is rightly concerned that his son may not get a fair shake of the dice and needs to win convincingly. Paul, on the other hand, is unfazed: Im not at all worried about going there because you have to travel to these places to get the belts its part of the business. It was the same when I beat Eugene Heagney, added the 25-year-old. I knew exactly what I had to do in there and just relaxed myself and I felt so comfortable. After studying our last fight [w pts 6, Dec 2008] it was noticeable that I mainly threw jabs, lefts and right hooks to the body and I watched Eugene dropping the left shoulder after he jabbed. The research paid off because I realised the right hand over the top could work on him. The overall preparation was great, I was really calm and after fighting him last time at 8st 6llbs I was back up to my weight, with my belt, in my ring! I boxed like a champion. I was faster and stronger than Heagney and so confident that I wouldnt lose; it was all about the mentality. I have a buzz about me at the moment that I am the man and I cant get beaten.
Macklin's target defends title Sunday, 20 December 2009 09:55 Matthew Macklin's target Kelly Pavlik retained his WBC and WBO middleweight titles with a fifth-round stoppage of Miguel Espino at his hometown Beeghly Centre in Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday. Pavlik, whose record is now 36 wins and one defeat from 37 fights, with 32 knockouts, forced Espino's corner to throw in the towel. Pavlik put Espino down with an uppercut for a count of nine in round four and repeated the treatment later in the round. Espino (20-3-1, 9 KOs) suffered another knockdown at the start of the fifth and though he beat the count for a third time, his corner opted to prevent him taking any further punishment after one minute and 45 seconds of the round. Macklin's promoter Ricky Hatton has targeted a title-shot with Pavlik and the fight could happen as soon as next March if Hatton gets his way. This content is protected

Exclusive- Interview Wayne McCullough says Bernard Dunne is avoiding him By Jonny Stapleton - Irish boxing This content is protected legend Wayne McCullough has hit out at team Bernard Dunne claiming they are avoiding the Olympic Silver medallists and denying Irish fans a chance to witness one of the greatest ever all Ireland contest. McCullough has joined the long list of fighters trying to get a piece of Dunne since his defeat to Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym in March. However despite publicly calling out Dunne the American based puncher isnt confident the bout will come off. The former WBC World Champion, who has never been knocked down or stopped in a professional bout, claims he has offered to fight friend Dunne on numerous occasions but has had his offer rescinded by both Dunnes manager Peters and the Neilstown native himself.. There are those who believe The Pocket Rocket has done himself proud and should hang up his gloves and reflect back on his illustrious career. McCullough, however has other ideas and is actively seeking a fight and would consider anyone brave enough to take him on, including Irish Champions This content is protected Paulie and Pajo Hyland, if the offer was right. But its a fight with fellow former world champion This content is protected , Dunne, McCullough really wants and he is disappointed by the Dubliners camps refusal to take him up on his fight offer. I want to fight Bernard Dunne. Everywhere I go its the fight people ask me about. Why not get it on. We are both former world champions. It is not often you get Irish world champions never mind two that could fight each other. It would be a massive Irish fight that would sell out anywhere, McCullough said. Since he got knocked out Bernard is looking for an opponent and I am looking for a fight. It makes sense. Maybe they are afraid I will knock him out. McCullough may believe a bout between the two Irish legends makes sense but Brian Peters certainly does not. Dunnes manager previously stated the 39 year old, who has not been in the ring since a 2008 defeat to Juan Ruiz, needed wins over ranked opponents before he would consider him as an opponent. Sometimes I think they forget what I did for them. Peters said I needed wins but Bernard is coming off a loss now he is a losing fighter. Bernard is a friend and I had coffee with him in January and offered to fight him no matter the out come of his upcoming world title shot. It isnt about money for me. I love the game and this is a fight the fans want to see so lets do it. If, as is most likely, McCullough cant get a clash with the Dublin Destroyer the Pocket Rocket is still hoping to re launch his career in 2010 and claims he would glove off against anybody. My wife, who is my manager, is actively looking for fights for me. I know my own body and I know I am more than able. These young guys out there are afraid to fight me. They know they would be in for a tough and long night. I know of the Hylands but I dont know them personally but I would fight them for the Irish Title. I would fight anyone if the offer was right.
That article is incorrect, Wayne has been stopped twice in his pro career. He also accused Dunne of avoiding him when he signed to fight Ricardo Cordoba(on Buncey's show), and he's still at it now. Someone needs to get it into Wayne's head that if he's actually serious about getting big fights he's going to have to win small fights first. There's no shortcuts out there for him due to his numerous consecutive losses.
Shut yer mouth ya gobshite. McCullogh is a legend, I dont want to see him back in the ring again to be honest, but you would have a little more respect for a man that has achieved so much.
martin lindsay is now self managed and as had talks with maloney, mcguigan and peters about his future...theres a chance if lindsay accepts maloneys deal that his first defence of the title will be in belfast
