The 10 million dollar penalty also, is not a boxing commision mandated thing either, it is a part of contractual terms that the fighters agree to themselves(which of course either fighter has the right to refuse or accept). But as a fight fan If Mayweather accepted this weight penalty term, as is suggested by schafer in an espn article"

"We agreed to $10 million per pound, or fraction thereof," Schaefer said. "That's what the Pacquiao side wanted and we said OK to that. That's unheard of. We have agreed on everything except for this drug testing issue. I have to think Pacquiao is unaware of this. The drug testing had been part of the contract for a while and then they suddenly said no. I was informed of that [Tuesday] morning. Suddenly they changed course and I don't know why."

. then I would rather Manny accept this testing than the fight not happen at all, if those are the stakes here, which in my opinion it seems to be.

So The Guy that doesn't want to take the drug test gets a pass, but the guy that ask for him to take the test gets crucified. ESB threads never cease to amaze me, Just imagine if this was Floyd not wanting to do a drug test. Pac will submit to the formal testing, but wont submit to the "RANDOM TESTING" if it looks like a rat, and smells like a rat, got dammit its a rat

It's a good point. It is slanderous, but not sure if it meets the legal definition or could be successfully argued in court.

Also, nowhere is it stipulated how often the random testing is to occur. Is this a case of someone stopping in once randomly to test Pac prior to the fight along with the standard testing, or does the clause state they can stop in however many times they like to disrupt training? It's impossible to know without the contract in front of us.

I think there will be a ton of this kind of stuff. Some of it legit and some purely to promote the fight

wonder what will be next.....Im sure Roger and Freddy will be chiming in soon for round 2

With the questions many people have already had in the back of their minds about Pacquiao and PED's, this blood testing is not something he should have even thought about refusing.

Why doesn't Alex Ariza tell us what supplements Pac takes instead of saying Manny isn't responsible for what goes in his body, just he (Ariza) is.

I Think so to theres a article where ariza was saying Manny doesn't even know what he takes, I mix all his medicines everything that goes in Mannys body Im responsible for it, either Manny doesn't know if hes doping, or Ariza is laying out a cover story, either way SUMBITING TO A RANDOM DRUG TEST, and not a drug test that you know of before hand, would go a long way to dispel the rumors

thats the 1st thing I thought as to why Pac said no. Maybe just a ton of mind games and neither fighter wants to give in to the others demands

:patsch It was a baseless accusation to begin with, so yes, Floyd sr. SHOULD be crucified since his and his son's paranoia may derail this fight. Answer this smart man, Why now? Why hasn't Floyd done this type on his own?

No logical reason Pac should deny any test for this fight unless he's guilty or looking for a way out. Or if they're just tryin to fuk with mayweathers head but in doing so they're (pac and Roach) hurting their reps

    Incorrect idiot !!!!

Floyd came back and stressed that it was his opinion shying aware from a showtown in which he would get torn a new one,

You can deny the holocaust in public and state its your OPINION freedom of speech and all.

On an unrelated note Herbie Hide stated on tv that warren robbed him of money he stated it as fact and it cost his ass nearly 40 grand

Now if that was only an opinon his ass would be 40gs better off !!!

Pac should do what kind of testing is normally done in boxing..If he wants to take this ***** floyds test then good, if he wants to take it after the fight, then do it....if he doesnt want to take this ***** floyd's test then DONT!!!!

What happens next??? Floyd wont fight??? Then NO FIGHT!!!

This is an important point to discuss. I addressed a similar question from Zavy in Ross' thread.

Drug testing is already mandated in boxing. Such testing has proven sufficient to catch fighters such as Botha, Toney and Roy Jones, Jr., among others. That is, there's already a system in place for catching suspected cheats. And it's required.

Pacquiao isn't saying he won't be tested. He just doesn't want to have his blood drawn within a certain frame of time. If Pacquiao is such a cheater -- as some of Team Floyd suspects he is -- one would think he would surely be caught with post-fight testing as many others have been.

What Mayweather is asking for appears redundant and solely based upon rumor. Now, if Pacquiao had tested positive in the past or had been caught cheating like Margarito, I could understand as there would be some basis for extra scrutiny. Be he never has been, he's not associated with something like BALCO as was Shane Mosley (who, it must be said, has still never been asked by an opponent to take a test like what Floyd is asking of Pacquiao).

If anyone should be getting requests like this from opponents, it should be Andre Ward and the other fighters associated with known drug expert Victor Conte of BALCO fame. Ward and others have admitted they work with Conte, and that is problematic.

Yet, no one has asked Mosley or Ward to take the test which Floyd is asking Manny to participate in now. That seems unfair and illogical.

I agree. Pac should only be required to test like ALL other boxers do. Floyd knows this...thats why I wonder if its nothing then mind games and controversy to sell the fight even more

boxing already has testing and it should and will be enough to ensure a fair fight
