Who fought the better version of Hopkins RJJ or Calzaghe?

    I've always thought that Joe would have had an easier time with the Hopkins that fought RJJ.

    Weight not being an issue!

    The weight WOULD be an issue, Hopkins grew into Middle and out of it, gaining experience along the way.

    This is a NOTHING thread, that Hopkins would not have competed with a 'prime' Joe at 168. It doesn't mean that Calzaghe's 'win' means he's a better fighter than Jones.

    A better thrwead would be 'Could Calzaghe beats Ezzard Charles, Saad Muhammad, Archie Moore or Mike Spinks at 175', if you really want a point proven :lol: :good

    Jones in his pomp at 175 would deal with this version of Hop better than Calzaghe did. Styles make fights, and Calzaghes style doesn't suit that well to 'great' fighters.

    At no point was I trying to 'prove' that JC is a better fighter than B-HOP.
    If you want that poll why don't you post it?

    And no, if I'm goin anywhere it's the Classic. Not the General. Seems to me you're angling for people to agree with ya, rather than explaining why you think Calzaghe could hold his own with 'the greats', such as Charles and Foster.

    Clearly thats not what I am trying to do on this thread. Yes we were talking about it on the other thread but thats not what this thread is about!

    This question has cropped up many times in chats I've had. I wanted to see if people agreed with my view. That would appear to be the case.
    If your desperate to argue your point on JC start a thread about it and I'll post on there.

    That is not what this thread is for!
