The catchweight was at 145. Mayweather weighed in at 146. I suggest you learn to count. I'll give you a clue here, the difference between 145 & 146 isn't 3.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be at least one "this fight is off" statement, just as with Hatton and with Cotto. Only to find, the fight is not off, just needed another free promo bump in the sports headlines. This is how fights sell, this is how interest is generated. They are pros at it. ODH vs Floyd was "off" also. So if this fight is not "off" at some point, I will then be concerned.

A welterweight fight is technically 141-147, although you'll find junior welterweight contenders who take part in a "junior welterweight bout" at like 142 or something (see Gatti-Ward 1), or similar cases in other divisions (M. Spinks-M. Johnson). Personally I prefer it to be at the limit, but fights like Leonard-Lalonde, Leonard-Hearns 2, Whitaker-Chavez, and Hopkins-De La Hoya were all examples of title bouts below the weight limit, in addition to Pacquiao-Cotto.

The blood test shouldn't be taken really close to the fight, nor do I understand the logic of it being right before the fight anyway. Fighters would use them during training camp to train harder, and it should already be out of the system a day before the fight.

Ultimately it shouldn't matter as I think the issue will be sorted out. I highly doubt Pacquiao is going to walk away from $30-40 million because he refuses to have a teaspoon of blood drawn from him.

I believe the fight will happen. Pac has no choice but to take the tests. He cares about his image and what people around the world think. Even if he feels floyd has taken the lead in negotiations, if this was chess, he is clearly checked mate. He has no choice but to take the test. His pride will come first.

Is Mayweather right to demand a pre-fight blood test? Consider that he would also have the test on the same day.

Or is Roach right to refuse, given that he will allow a blood test the day after and has no problem giving urine samples?

    Vote.

testing is not one blood test 30 days before the fight and one after the fight. It is random drug testing which would include somewhere between 3-5 blood tests and 8-12 urine tests taken during the period January 1 to March 15. -Richard Schaefer

    this:

"Well the sanctioning bodies and the state commissions run the boxing world, not Floyd Mayweather. Who is this guy to tell us that we have to have blood tests, or urine tests, or any tests? He's just looking for a way out of the fight. He is scared, and he's just afraid that he's going to get his ass kicked. We don't work for Floyd Mayweather. We fight for the state commission, since when does the fighter make up the rules?" -roach
