Some of the worst World Champs...

Luis Santana
Primo Carnera
Frans Botha
Leon Spinks (even though he had a good win over a past prime Ali)


Santana would probably **** his pants after a few Mickey Ward body shots. Unless he convinces the ref that they are low (he was a damn fine actor) Ward would win!

Bivins would be give up major height, reach, and weight vs. Carnera but on his best night I could see him boxing circles around a prime Carnera.

I think Burley, Langford, and Bivins would all give the bigger Botha or L. Spinks a boxing lesson.

 

How about Benny Briscoe vs. Darrin Van Horn? Van Horn wasn't that bad, but I think Briscoe could have beat him.

Angel Manfredy vs. Joey Gamache- I'll take Manfredy in a close fight.

Gamache was decent but when you compare him to other 3 weight division champions he is toward the bottom of the list.

Ivan Robinson vs. Terron Millett

 

Manfredy sucked.

 

Duran was stopped four times. He quit in New Orleans, and retired with an injured shoulder in the first Lawlor fight (a loss he incredibly avenged two years after Joppy beat him). Only two opponents ever punched El Cholo out-a peaking Hearns and Joppy. Yes, Roberto was old as dirt, but he was not ever an easy stoppage for anybody, no matter how old he got.

Joppy has 11 wins in WBA MW championship matches, and three separate reigns, all with successful defenses. That's far too deep a resume for him to come close to qualifying as one of the worst ever.

 

Does John Mugabe merit a mention among the worst at 154? He was a deadly contender until Hagler beat him down, then he seemed to lose his punch and become suddenly impotent against world class competition. He freakishly did become a world champion when Rene Jacquot injured his ankle slipping to the canvas in round one, but got blown out by Terry Norris in his first defense. As a champion, he was one of the weakest in memory, but do we factor in only that, or his careers in it's entirety?

Between Leon Spinks and Primo Carnera, Leon was the weaker by far. Carnera beat HOFer Jack Sharkey and ATG Tommy Loughran legitimately. Even Marvin Hart got wins over Jack Root and Jack Johnson. (Root should have been in the IBHOF Old Timer's category years ago.) All Leon has on his resume is an SD (which I agree was too close) over a shot Ali.

 

One of the best ever not to win a world title was KIRKLAND LAING.

chuvalo vs hide would be 75% over 25% i believe.
and williams vs berbick would be more competive. something like 55% vs 45% (though i wouldn't bet money on the last fight to tough to call i think)

but he wasnt world class, i normally stand up for Baldomir because he isnt actually terrible but when thinking about LINEAR WELTERWEIGHTS who won a title he is probably the worst. Also imagine what Burley could do to him.

Lueveno i think is alright as a fighter he has a good chance of bneating Juanma

(G-Man had 1 fight at 168, tragically did not win the title despite showing why he was a beast in the ring. Nardiello on the other hand, was ****ing ****)

LWW: Gavin Rees vs Manny Pacquiao
(Pac did not win one of the 4 major belts by beating Hatton. Rees held the WBA title before having his ass handed to him by Kotelnik. This fight would last around 7-9 seconds)

Am I cheating by picking fighters who did win world titles, but not in certain divisions?
