I'm assessing the financial situation of Bernard Hopkins from a historical perspective.

I'm wondering from what times his biggest paydays were, when he first became a millionaire, stuff like that :think.

By my reckoning, his first big fight purse would have been RJJ. Now I get various estimates for that, but around $600k :huh? I dunno, that's the official, but I know he claims he recieved a lot less of it than that :fire.

Am I right though? What kind of scratch was he making his 23 fights before that? What was the actual amount he got (as best can be determined) from his RJJ bout? What about afterwards?

Basically, when did the dude start to make the real cash? He always says he's fighting for back pay now :bbb, so he must o' thought he come up short in his earlier days somehow.

If I also remember correctly, he has often bet money on himself to win.

Really ? I didn't know B-Hop was the type to actually do that.

I read somewhere that he only got $50,000 out of the RJJr fight. Ive seen interviews where he says he wasnt making MIllions, but the few $100,000 paydays add up. I guess you it depends on what you consider rich. Tito made him his 1st bid purse, but Don King had options on him.

B hop deserves more money than mayweather. He is just as skilled except he takes on actual challenges and dethroned fighters in or close to their prime.
