can someone tell me if there had been athletes in the past that were caught using PEDs, HGH, etc through random blood test
It's not about the past... In the present, blood and urine tests are on par, as long as they are done randomly like the Mayweather clan wants.
many baseball athletes...olympic athletes...blood testing is alot more effective...they don't use it a lot though because it is far more expensive than urine testing.
i did but i thought they were either caught via urine, or because they confessed no need to get testy, i was asking an honest question
blood is more effective it just costs more...many major sports leagues are moving towards blood testing...MLB and Roger Goodell is exploring options to move to blood testing as well...
ok thanks i understand and i read this before as well but i also read that there have been no solid evidence that blood test can detect PEDs as well that's why NSAC insists that random urine test should be sufficient and according to medical articles, the substance stays in your blood stream for more than 60 days so blood test in 30 days and after the fight is more than sufficient as well, no? just discussions here
There is no unanimous sentiment amongst the medical and scientific community with regards to which method of PED testing (urine or blood) is more sufficient. Depending on your reference an argument can be made for either method.
From what I understand it really depends more on the type of test being performed. A lot of folks are saying that HGH for example, cannot be detected through urine, but that's false. You can detect metabolic by-products that are passed through the urine that act as markers for HGH. So again, it depends on the method of testing, and what you're testing for more specifically, than the actual fluid (blood or urine) being analysed.
The volume of urine samples are much larger than blood. That's why urine is preferred, not because urine has better tests.
At the end of the day everything you eat is absorbed into the blood with good enough testing you should be able to find anything in an athletes blood Urine is hassle free and there are no negatives to it - so it might as well be done alongside blood I think athletes should be blood tested once a month and randomly up towards a fight and straight after a fight. If better testing methods are found which are much faster then there is no reason to why urine can't be tested 2-3 times a week
99% correct here, the problem is that there are certain peptides which will stimulate HGH pulses from the pituitary gland that won't show up in urine, they MAY be caught through blood testing though.
