Cuevas woulda killed Honeyghan. Honeyghan's style played right into Pipino's hands.

honeyghan was one of the best 3 round fighters i've seen in the last 30 years. but as said above, more times than not he'd run into a cuevas left hook and then it's good night. he doesn't have the chin to take it or the defense to avoid it

If Honeyghan reproduces the form that he displayed in the Don Curry fight,he would edge Cuevas on points. Anything less than that,Cuevas stops the Ragamuffin Man.

Agreed i dont care what version of Honeyghan showed up (even the one who fought Curry) he would would get bombed out in between the 5th and 7th. Hed be made for Cuevas.

Cuevas is 1 of the most overrated on here, his competition was weak, he was slow as mollasses and his boxing skill was poor. Honeyghan would use his jab speed and fast right hand, pressure Cuevas, back him up, which would put him on the backfoot and take away his power while beating the stuffing out of him on the ropes. Honeyghans faster straighter punches land first every time, Cuevas will land, not that cleanly and when he does Honeyghan will take them and keep coming. Not to mention Honeyghan has the jab, footwork, angles, and bodyshots to break Cuevas down

    Honeyghan KO6

Which version of Cuevas? Pre or post Tommy Hearns? Pre I think Cuevas kills him. Post I think Honey has a chance to wear him down for the stoppage but Cuevas always has the chance to end it suddenly.

The difference between you and the people that rate him is that they have actually seen the fights of him in his prime and a decent catalogue of fights of the people he beat.

Espada was an excellent fighter...Shields gave Ray Leonard the fits and hung with Hearns for a long time...Weston arguably beat Wilfred Benitez..Gray went the rounds Napoles with and just about made them with Hearns, yet was iced by Cueves.

If Pipino was as shite as you always seem to harp on about he would have been a forgettable journeyman...not a champion for 4 years when the division was smoking hot.

REALLY bad style for Honeyghan in taking on a killer like Cuevas. Cuevas would have knocked his head off his shoulders. KO 2.

:deal:thumbsup Very good Post i just about choked when i read his post. Cuevas also blew out a very solid top contender in Pete Ranzany. I got a collection of many of his fights on Dvd , i also have seen alot of Honeyghan in his days and i have no doubt Pipino would knock him out.
