That's a harsh but not unfair appraisal, though the way some people seem to genuinely think his career began in 2006 and ignore the several quality wins he had before that never ceases to amaze me.

    :huhMclelland?

I'm not the one who claimed to base the argument on similar opposition- I know Benn would win because he was a more capable fighter. :good

Apart from the Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell, Salem, Hopkins and Jones fights he was never in trouble and apart from the Bika, Starie, Giminez, Ashira, Jiminez, Brewer, Thornberry, Giminez fights he was always impressive.... and apart from the 40 low grade opponents he faced he was always pitched in genuine world class.

Of the topic Jeff, who was the better fighter out of Ricky Burns and Lee MCallister? I imagine their fans gave you some stick up there didn't they.

(sorry nosing at your record on boxrec)

Was it a good atmosphere at the Dublin stadium when you fought there?

Calzaghe barely finished on his feet against a shot Chris Eubank with 4 days to get ready:rofl. Do you think he would have even had the balls to face a prime Eubank twice and Benn twice?

It took him a career pluck up the courage to tackle a non puncher like Hopkins and a shot ATG in Roy Jones.

Burns by a mile. Dublin Stadium was brilliant. Thanks for picking three fights I 'lost'... never lost to McAllister though. The ref was a bent ***** who makes a habit of picking home fighters.

No aggresive fighters of Benns quality of course. Which is why its such a debateable matchup. Still fancy Joe though, especially if he boxes him.

Both at their best Calzaghe would win but of course the Benn of the McLellan fight is capable of beating Calzaghe if Joe fights like he did against Ashira for example.

Calzaghe generally always found a way to win though and produced his best against his better opposition.
