any shows in the pipeline podge;...things have been mighty quiet lately with no mention of future shows at all
Hey hitman, I have a feeling DolPhil will be out before too long. Talking to Don O'Leary lately, himself and Phil Sutcliffe are as enthusiastic as ever. My guess, and its just a guess, is that it will be late February-early March. Probably the Stadium again.
not much wrong with that list...only i would give a shout out to the fantastic success our amateurs have had
thanks, will hdye be running shows here or is he going to be based the states do you think egan will run the show in april, it could clash with dolphil
Ha ha, Sligo, did I steal that one from you? Probably did, mate, it might have been cheesy but it described the action perfectly. I still have that programme for ya, pal, Don O'Leary kept a few aside for me and I'll be collecting them soon. I shall be enlisting your services for their next show too if that's okay with ya? Lads, we must get Steve Wellings from Boxing News to this thread. He's a boxrec poster first and foremost, but he's been posting on the British thread on ESB lately. A fantastic writer, so he is, and as passionate about Irish boxing as anyone. I'll tell him he'll get a great welcome here, so don't leave me down when he arrives! He knows the Irish game inside out.
Hitman, Tommy Egan will definitely run his show in April. He's confident it will be indeed Sinclair-Moore, and he has not wavered from his desire for more Irish title fights on the card too. I'm very confident there will be a firm announcement in the next couple of weeks about the show. Dunno about Gary Hyde, haven't talked to him in a few days. He's one of the most forthcoming guys in the sport for letting journalists know things, so you can be sure we'll be first to know here what his plans are. I met Spike for a pint last week, he's hoping to sign with Frank Warren in the new year. Let's hope Paschal Collins can pull it off. He badly needs to move somewhere where he has better training and sparring.
Dont worry I probably stole it from Ryle Nugent! Steve is a good guy alright. Always worth a read - even if he steals my ideas (before I thought of them!)
good on yea man......spike should come to belfast, breens gym..the best sparring in ireland...he will be twice the fighter he is now after a few stints in that fight factory
:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy Kelly eyes ***an in Irish title showdown Submitted by Steve Wellings on 23 December, 2009 - 15:17 Irish duo Oisin ***an and Michael Kelly are heading for a collision course in the New Year, with both entertaining the idea of a title showdown. Speaking at ringside after his first-round KO of Peter Feher in Dublins National Stadium, earlier this month, Kelly revealed the reasons behind his inactivity and vowed to make 2010 the year he steps-up to the mark. "I've been out since March with a hand injury, the Dundalk man explained, which I got in the O2 [Dunne-Cordoba undercard in September] and it's took about four or five months to heal itself back to 100 percent. No problems tonight, it was dead-on and the sparring has posed no problems. I've been sparring Andrew Murray, Kevin O'Hara and Dee Taggart. There's plenty of great work in Breen's gym. "Stop/start, fighting every four months or so is a waste of time - I need to be fighting regularly to progress. I'm going to keep the head down over Christmas and a date around January or February would suit. A slot on the next McCloskey undercard [rumoured to be around March in Belfast] would be nice." Kelly has yet to fight in a professional eight-round contest which is a stipulation of the B.U.I. if he is to challenge for the Irish belt. Training under John Breen in Belfast, the former star amateur is keen on the ***an scrap nonetheless. Oisin ***an and I will happen next year and itll be a great fight, with not much dancing around the ring! That's the fight I want and hopefully with an Irish title on the line. We've both been trained by John Breen but that poses no issues for me. He was in Breen's just for the Amir Khan fight and I've been working with John for a good few months now." Seated at ringside with no room on the card for an appearance, Oisin ***an was buoyant about his future and made it known that nothing has changed with regards to his boxing philosophy. ***an still wants anyone and everyone, provided there is enough notice to safely make weight: "I can make super-featherweight but I need enough notice to get down to that weight, he said. I need total preparation and more than a couple of weeks' notice to boil down and fight someone like Kevin O'Hara. Everyone knows that if there's a big fight on the table to just give me a call and I'll take it on. I wanted to get on this show but there was no room for me. Michael Kelly or Andy Murray, for the Irish title, are the fights that I want. I would prefer lightweight but light-welter's fine too if necessary. I'm coming to the twilight of my career now so I want the big fights." Now settled as a full-time pro, training at Phil Sutcliffes reputed Crumlin BC, Oisin expects to have a slot on the DolPhil promotions card scheduled for February. The Kelly fight certainly interests him, as does a rematch with Eddie Hyland; the fellow Dubliner outpointed ***an for the IBF International crown in July. "The Eddie Hyland rematch hasn't yet, smiles ***an. I still want that fight so let the public know that even though it hasn't transpired we're talking and I still want it. Eddie knows where I am if he wants to fight me and I've put the word out many times, so I'm waiting for the phone call. "For the right money I'll fight anybody in the world - even Floyd Mayweather!"
Its been a rollercoaster of a year:thumbsup [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0UkEqbx2eo&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
second that, its a logical choice imo. its only a 30 min flight or else say 5hr drive(?) having said that if he were able to sign with warren, he should move to manchester, the prob one of the boxing based hotbeds in europe at the moment. how good is the guy in the scheme of things? i saw him on you tube against a eastern euro punchbag yet having said that he took him apart nicely. would be nice to see a new good irish pro on tv
