Ok, that's like a 2nd string quarter back coming into play the rest of the season and going on to win the super bowl. Do you think anyone's saying he didn't do ****? Proof's in the pudding.

Let's not forget Hoya dropped himself out of Olympic running while his mother was sick and passed away, came back in right before the Olympics, this could account for it.

This is one of those cliches that reveals who does and who doesn't know boxing.

I think he barely makes it as an all time great. Although his resume is second to none, I tend to place alot of emphasis on dominating weightclasses. De La Hoya did not stay in any of the lower weghtclasses long enough to dominate them. Sure he won titles but did not clean out divisons. The first divison he tried to clean out he came out with two losses and two very close wins. With all that being said the resume makes up for not cleaning out a division. Imagine if he had cleaned out a division, if I could put him in the top 5 of one of the divisions in which he competed all time then there would be no arguement of him being an ATG, but the fact is you can't so he remains an ATG, but just barely.

Not even close, his speed and defense was still there but his timing and offense were lacking. Still won that fight with just a jab though.

None of the ole Fishnets nuthuggers have yet to answer the question; Exactly WHO did ole Fishnets beat to be considered an ATG?
