The whole article is pretty crappy. The journalist seems to lack much in the way of fact sorting or basic logical reasoning - and conveniently his faulty reasoning is skewed to favour Floyd.

So for now, I will question the source. When a journalist has a clear bias and is not very good with his facts then you need to suspect whether their reporting is accurate.

If this was true about Pac's representatives asking whether a positive result could be kept quiet? That's very incriminating. Kinda explosively incriminating.

Again that makes me suspect the source. Why wouldn't something so incriminating have made it into more of the media? It's very, very relevant - if it is reliable.

 

Its called due diligence. Any half decent attorney/rep, will question all the "what if's" even if they have little to zero likihood of occurring. You dont leave any stone unturned otherwise you havent done your job. If Pac or a lay person were negotiating this, they would not even bring this "what if" scenario up because it wouldnt apply to them because they KNOW IT. A good attorney/rep does not KNOW THIS FOR SURE, and treats every situation as such.

 

I wonder if that means Floyd's attorneys asked the same question?

You're right and I wouldn't think anything of it if it were part of the actual agreement/contract to fight with random blood testing. Thing is, Pacquiao is not willing to partake in random blood testing to make this fight happen, making this "due diligence" look awfully suspicious.

 

I don't see any bias in the article what so ever. The writer has given Pac more then his share of positive ink in the past, as well as negative ink on floyd.

 

This is disturbing if true, but how are we supposed to take the statement "according to a source familiar with the talks."

This means nothing. By citing your source in an anonymous manner, you can pretty much say anything is coming out of the talks.

Its just like a pre-nup agreement. No one intends to get divorced, but a good attorney will not leave any potential issue unresolved/unaddressed regardless of how unlikely a chance it may have to occur.

 

It still doesn't shed any light on whether this actually happened or not. I'm not saying it isn't true, but I'm not going to get excited about something that was supposedly said and relayed to Smith by someone who isn't even named.
