How's it going fellas? Firstly, thanks for the kind words. Podge and Lenny you are legends! Always good to chat boxing with the boys and look forward to seeing you at future shows.

Talking of those shows....I heard DolPhil are planning a show for mid-Feb as Podge stated. ...a new promotional team are thinking of a March show in mid-Ireland (I forget exactly where now) and Michael Sweeney could be involved....expect McCloskey headlining a Euro defence in Belfast at some point (again mid-Feb could be the whisper)....and of course Tommy Egan is looking at Sinclair-Moore for the Irish title in Dublin in April.

Tommy tells me he's planning one of his famous "big announcements" so we'll all sit still with our legs crossed and arms folded for that!

Oh and don't forget our boys abroad. Brian Magee in Denmark: http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1391

And Paul Hyland in Italy: http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1394

Thanks again lads, I'll keep an eye on this. My blog is: www.belfastboxingpics.tk

Don't hesitate to ring or e-mail me for a yarn :)

For a start Paddy, do you actually think James Moore or Jamie Moore are better than Sinclair and are more deserving to participate in this "event"? I can see a case being made for Jamie Moore[former British and European champ], but what has James Moore achieved as a pro? Although I'm in agreement that it would be unfair to ask Neil to move up to middle, only because he can comfortably make light middle, and a boxer should always try to box within his weight class, but he is definitely a more worthy candidate than James Moore.

Excellent news Podge about the Tommy Egan promotion, already a considerable amount of northern fight fans are looking to make the journey south to cheer on "Sinky". How many punters can this venue cater for?

Thanks ML, O'Connor is steadily improving. My only concern at this time would be his possible lack of power, but other than that he looks like the real McCoy.

I think it's hard to overlook the sheer brutality of Dunne-Cordoba for fight of the year. ***an-Hyland seemed a ******* at the time but re-watching on DVD it wasn't quite as fascinating as it appeared live.

Unfortunately, due to various reasons, I missed both Long-Fitzgerald bouts but looking forward to 2010.

Oh and a mention for Neil Sinclair. Talk about comeback of the year; his clinical dismantling of Henry Coyle really rolled back the years. :bbb

I thought the same about ***an v Hyland, maybe it was the nosebleed seats.
Welcome to the thread anyway Steve.

I think that Middleweight tournament idea is very much pie in the Sky, at best we'll get Sinky v James Moore at 154 and one more bout in the quite distant future between the others at Middle.

Ardy Jamie Moore would of course be far more deserving than Sinky to fight in such a tournament. James Moore however is a lot more debatable.
Neil has obviously done much more in his career but if we just look at the period of time since Moore turned pro then it becomes a bit closer.

Moore does have 2 recent losses but he's also been fighting at a much higher level than Sinclair, and Moore's win over Candelo is probably the biggest win either of them have had in the last few years.

Sinclair has looked sensational in his last 2, Moore hasn't but Sinclair fought Coyle and Petrovics, while Moore fought future title holder(and quality fighter) Yuri Foreman, and a tough journeyman.

I suppose it doesn't really matter anyway as the Middleweight tournament won't come off but a fight between the two lads hopefully will and that would be very interesting indeed.

James Moore showed potential when he first started out with Irish Ropes but his form has dipped in recent times, and he really has nowhere to go [in the U.S.A]. So this will make his match-up with Sinclair all that more intriguing. Sinclair has blasted himself back into title contention on the European circuit, and should possess too much fire power for Moore. The Irish Boxing Union should be pushing for the winner of this contest to get a fight with Ryan Rhodes for the European title, as both these boys deserve big paydays before their careers come to an end.

Think I might be going to do some sparring with both munroe and booth in the near future. Possibly in jan somtime before my next fight. So I'll get to see how good the top 2 super bantams in Britain really are ;)

I don't know if their ''Better'' depending in what context your talking about. I mean at 154 I think James is about equal and Jamie is better in terms of power. I not saying sinclair wouldn't have a chance of course he would. But in terms of 160 I think Sinclair is too small where as Jamie moore looks like (despite his height) it would suit him. As for James Moore I'm not sure it is the right thing but probably gives him a chance of a pay day against one of the trio.

That would be some great for you alright. They may live to regret it if you end up banjoing either of them further down the line though!!!
How long before you think you can get to british title level anyway. Or in and around the fringes of that level.

I'd like to see you in with the likes of a Heagney, Dean or Callaghan by the end of next year anyway :bbb

    Munroe may give up belts

Boxing: Rendall Munroe may give up his Commonwealth and European super-bantamweight belts in a bid to secure the world title shot he has craved for so long.
Early in 2010 Leicester City fan Munroe looks set to face Victor Terrazas in a final eliminator for the WBC world title held by Japanese ace Toshiaki Nishioka and manager Frank Maloney says it may mean he has to relinquish his current titles.
Maloney, who never got to secure a bout with Bernard Dunne when the Dubliner held the WBA title, today said: "Giving up his titles is a possibility because there will be obligations expected.
"The Commonwealth council have been patient and Rendall has been a fantastic EBU champion and faced every mandatory contender.
"Because the Terrazas fight appears imminent he will not be able to defend either title in the first few months of 2010 and it would be unfair to hold up other boxers like Jason Booth."
Maloney has revealed that he has already received a "derisory offer" for Munroe to face Terrazas in Mexico.
He added: "Because of the holiday period I haven't spoke to anybody directly from Terrazas's promotional team, but I will next week and make a tempting offer
"We had one offer to go over there which shows they want to the fight on, but I am just as desperate to get home advantage.
"It could well go to purses bids in mid-January and I would be hopeful of winning, but we cannot leave anything to chance if the Mexicans win it.
"They could suddenly put a date on us, but if they did we would already have a training camp in the US or Mexico sorted and be ready to go."

Afraid I'm in the dark as well but searching for answers! I know he's split from career-long manager John Rooney but don't know much more than that at present.
