I thought Marco Antonio Barrera vs Erik Morales II was the highest grossing Featherweight fight in History...and one of the most eagerly awaited rematches in 20-30 years. I think you should get rid of Hopkins vs Calzaghe.
i just feel that calzaghe crossing the atlantic and facing hopkins is bigger than barrera-morales II. But you can argue otherwise
In terms of historical signifigance though it easily outranks Liston-Patterson. Now if you were doing it solely on hype, gate, ratings, or such, then you might have a good point. Although Ali certainly went overboard in hyping that fight, he was calling out Liston for a year and doing all sorts of media stunts and such.

Thats exactly what i thought, Chavez Taylor was 10x bigger than Fenech Nelson. In fact Fenech Nelson was only popular to hard core fans. Chavez Taylor had all of Mexico and the US watching and the 2 were considered Pfp the best,the fight is still talked about today. Very glaring omission Asero!
Vargas vs Delahoya was a huge fight much bigger than Calzaghe Hopkins. This fight was even heavily hyped on ESPN and News stations, who usually dont even bother with Boxing. I remembe Oscar and Vargas on Jim Rome and Espn on a regular basis. On the West Coast this fight was really huge,and hyped big since Vargas made it clear to everyone he hated Oscar.
