i am a huge barkley fan an i wish they rematched,

    too many questions,

nigel hitting barkley when he was down... twice

the third knock down which may have been a slip

    the three knock down rule

i would have love to have seen a rematch i am sure that the action would have made it the fight of the year.

Considering Iran's usual propensity for coming back from adversity, this was a real shocker, we knew Benn could give it…and we knew Iran could take it…we Knew Iran could give it…But was not sure Benn could Take it….By Jumping on Iran from the opening Seconds he Gave Iran no chance to Settle in, Benn was a very heavy hitter, and Fast Puncher, but this night he was in the dog-fight Zone, It was the Michael Watson Mentality all over Again, but it Made Sense, if Iran was allowed to Settle in, no Telling what he might have been able to Absorb and Fire Back From….But Benn was a Man possessed on this night, Like his Early Years seek and destroy thriller with Terminator Logan, Barklety would Yield, or Nigels going out on his Shield ! I don’t think the cuffing shot to Iran's head when he was on the Floor made any real difference to the ultimate result, it was wrong, but sometimes these things happen and are understandable given the nature of the activity, ( Marciano against Cockell springs to mind for some reason, Like Nigel, Rocky not a dirty fighter, Just committed at that moment, ) Nigel had got Iran on the hook and was not going to let him off it.

Good action fight, but Barkley was suffering mightily by that time to make 160; hence the result was pretty predictable.

That said, even if they fight at 168, Benn wins anyway. He was quicker and his punches shorter.

Barkley came in dry as a bone and with the look of a sheep in his eye. If the man was the type to be afraid I would have assumed that he was. I don't think that he had much left after the Duran fight.

I was disappointed in his performance, in the ref, and in the fight itself.

My apologies. I had Hearns on the brain. I picked Benn to KO Nunn in a thread after losing every completed round.

I think it was the punch before the punch that missed that caused the last knock down.

Barkley was no pushover and for Benn to just demolish him like that, incredible....

All Americans should be forced to watch this fight before being allowed to use the phrase "Eurobum" :D

This is the result whenever you get 2 gunslingers in a match. One of them is going to lose badly and you just don't see the top gunslingers facing each other often.

Best thing from the fight is the story related about how one of Benn's corner, just before the start, overheard Barkley being told to watch out for the lead right. He told Benn, who responded along the lines of :

"Too ****ing right I'm gonna hit him with a lead right!"

Seconds later, Benn stomps out and throws the lead right from hell, right on Barkley's chin.

Was TKO1 a popular choice at the time? Or very early kayo loss for Barkley at the very least? Serious question.

Benn was a way better fighter than Barkley and I'm american and don't call people "eurobums". I love Eubank & Benn.
