No disrespect to Green, but isn't he the same guy who got beat by Mundine? And because he ko's a shell of Roy Jones, Jr. who hasn't had a significant win in years he's going to beat the defensive master who schooled Kelly Pavlik, gave Joe Calzaghe hell and possibly his toughest fight, and an Antonio Tarver when Tarver was still one of the top light heavyweights in the world? WTF are you serious? Green is not even close to Hopkins level.

What is it hard for people here to understand? Jones is shot and Hopkins is still an elite fighter because he beats elite fighters. Jones was an elite fighter in 2003 people! Wake the **** up that's 7years ago! Nobody should be getting credit beating an ATG whose best days were more than 7yrs ago. Anyone who does is an IDIOT!

Hopkins and Jones would still make money.... Sad to say, but it really would. Jones would have to go 60-40 with Hopkins at this point though.

I have watched Hopkins for years.... other fighters beating Jones does not do it for Hopkins. He still wants to beat Roy in the ring. Even after Green knocked him out.

Don't call me dummy please. I will show you the same respect.

And I explained in my other post, that I meant he had nothing to gain for his legacy.... I don't care about how much they make in a fight. That is not why I watch boxing matches.

buster, I just realized you created this thread.... you obviously have bias, which is illustrated in your thread title.

    elchivito,

    hopkins still an elite fighter?

maybe to be fair you should have pointed out that hopkins has been beating up middleweights who should not have been fighting hopkins at light heavy. he couldn't beat calzaghe who was a super middleweight fighter either.

it doesn't matter whether u want to give green credit for beating jones or not. that means sfa.

hopkins is being offered shitloads of cash to go and beat up a guy who u say is not in his league, yet hopkins won't risk it. sounds like chicken to me.

i don't have bias, i would put my money on hopkins if i was forced to bet.

i just hate big mouths that don't have the balls to back up their big gobs.

just like why mayweather is copping flack from everyone for constantly changing the rules for a fight with pacman. he talks rubbish and now he has a great opportunity to make huge cash and cement his legacy even more but seems to be trying everything to stop the fight going ahead. (thats for other threads though).

theres no smokescreen here, its clear to see what hopkins is doing. its his way of backing out.

Hopkins is in his mid forties still competing at the world level. He can fight who ever the **** he wants. He could have stopped fighting half a decade ago and his legacy still would have been great.

I dont understand how some people here claim that Hopkins would destroy Danny and deserves a bigger cut of the pie. Hopkins hasn't destroyed anyone in years and has gone close with a number of far lesser fighters than Danny. Green @178 is a far more intimidating and aggressive fighter than the weight drained ghost that ambled after Mundine in 2006.

Hopkins is a living legend (his annihilation of Tito in 2001 was a masterpiece) but hes 45 and doesn't fight three minutes....ever. Green is bigger, stronger, tougher and more dangerous than anyone Hopkins has fought..................and will be in his face aLL 12 ROUNDS. I am sure you have all seen Green sparring (@168) with a 250 lb Toney for 7 rounds, who eventually went to get his gun.

Although Hopkins would be a fravourite I can see why BHOP doesn't want to fight him.

Although I think he's great, hard core boxing fans don't appreciate how fickle the general public can be and just because you are a genius in the ring..........it doesn't mean you can draw. BHOP's biggest draws have all been becuase of his partner...Tito, ODH, Pavlik etc and I dont think he can carry a show himself. Danny on the other hand certainly can in Aus

60/40 get yo' ass whooped! :yep

I could just as easily say that this is Green's way of backing out because he's the chicken. He knocked out a washed up shell of what used to be Roy Jones, and that's the only thing he's accomplished that most people are aware of. How does that qualify him for an even purse split with Bernard Hopkins? It doesn't, and 40% of that fight is more than he's making anywhere else anytime soon, so how in the **** is this all on Bernard?

no one besides australians want this fight. I'd rather see Hopkins face a more legitimate challenge, he'd school Green bad.

I have no interest in a fight with Danny Green for Hopkins. Much better fights out there than that.

Gary Shaw offered Bhop 1.3 mil to fight Dawson which is about 3 x less than what Danny Green has offered:deal
Which is more than he got paid to fight Pavlic.
At the end of the day its a wise move by hopkins to back out because he could get seriously hurt at his age against a massive puncher like Green.
