I would go with burley, some might say langford but sam got 2 title shots 1 against gans but sam come in a pound over, and another title shot against joe walcot but it was a draw, were burley couldnt get a title shot no matter who he beat

Langford got one title shot, against Walcott. Gans was champion when he fought Langford but the title was not on the line.

That aside, I don't think that the number of title shots a fighter was alowed is necesarily a measure of how avoided they were.

Langford and Burley are good mentions.

Barbados Joe Walcott and Harry Greb both deserve a shout despite the fact that they held titles.

Jeff Clark is another good mention.

If we had authentic statistical information on every boxer who ever fought at any weight, and we took time to carefully analyze the empirical data, we would probably be surprised by the answer to the question. "The most avoided fighter of all time" is probably some pain in the ass, impossible to hurt, club fighter with a spoiler style, that most of us never heard of.

    Verry good shout.

Sullivan, Corbett and Fitzsimmons all had misgivings about fighting Jackson.
