Floyd Mayweather Sparring Session: Looks to be with a 154 or 160 pounder

Wont be a 168 lber Mayweather and his team refused to spar James De Gale prior to the Marquez fight on the basis he was to big he is a 168 lb fighter.

 

Even during sparring the guy is a complete *****.

Never been a fan of a figter that I love/hate so much as PBF.

I don't think he was being too malicious, it could just look that way from the vid if taken out of context, it was just a bit of a ribbing he was giving him.

 

It's more common than many people think to see bigger fighters spar smaller fighters in gyms. The greater the discrepancy in skill/experience makes for the bigger allowance for size difference. Before he moved from here, I got the chance to see Robert "Pushup" Frazier spar an amateur heavyweight like a uncaged tiger(bigger fighters made him fight more fiercely) There's a local middleweight prospect here(Willy Monroe Jr.) that could easily handle me in sparring(I'm a heavyweight) because of his extensive amateur background.

The more experienced the bigger fighter however, the more careful they must be because their natural size advantage could hurt the smaller fighter. You'll never see Floyd getting into a gym war with Chad Dawson. They're too close in skill/experience to allow for such a size difference without the smaller fighter getting hurt. Trainers wouldn't allow it unless it was controlled.

 

Sparing with bigger guys is not the same as actually getting into the ring with bigger guys

The bigger gloves, headgear, and "breaks"(as in when things get too rough or when a fighter appears hurt/winded enough to stop the sparring session) have a lot to do with that

 

Why do people think this is amazing?

Smaller fighters spar bigger guys in my gym all of the time.

 

Mayweather's glove touched the canvas, that's hardly being off his feet.

I do agree it was a knock down, but I think this guy means knocked down like Rick Hatton vs Mayweather the first knock down off his feet.
