that was a nasty break. People are getting caught up in Aoki's ground game too much. At the level people like him and BJ are at its all on initial positioning. BJ will get the takedown and ground it out and probably get a nasty choke in at some point.

Aoki's ground game is legit no question about that. But apart from his BJJ he has nothing to trouble any of the top lightweights in MMA espcially not a stud like BJ Penn. Penn would smash him to bits standing and he'd also in my opinion own him on the mat.

I think Penn's superior takedown would be the huge difference.

Penn is 10 times the fighter Aoki is. He's simply way more complete.

He is about as complete p4p as it gets that is true. And come to think of it I don't think Aoki can get him off of his feet, and if that's the case BJ can keep it on the feet and finish him in brutal fashion. Good point friend

I think he lost Aoki lost his mind for a while, Everyone in Japan watches the NYE event and some of my Japanese friends sent me an e mail asking "why would he do that ?" I didn't have an answer for them

How Aoki behaved is going to hurt Aoki in Japan and that kind of behavior simply isn't tolerated. If he is trying to get people talking about him he is doing it in the wrong way.

I haven't seen his losses to Sakurai. I'm very happy to see this. I hope to see it done again.

In all fairness though, their first fight years ago was a robbery in Sakurai's favor.
