Will amir khan come 2 dominate light wleterweight division

Most people need to understand Khan being at big framed 5'10 must of been draining to make 135, at 140 Khan is more at a natural weight and also Roach's team have rebalanced some weight putting weight on his legs. He still might not have a great chin but i think it is better at 140.

 

I think he has the ability to clear up the division but not right now. I think he needs a couple of fights against name opponents like Campbell, Casamayor, Judah or Malignaggi. If he happens to come through these then set up a fight with Bradley or Alexander for the end of the year.

Alexander is unifying with Urango and I would imagine Bradley or Khan will go after the winner.

 

warren is saying in the paper today that the wbc have ordered him to fight another mandatory against maidana. that should answer some questions regarding his chin. if he comes through that i could see him fighting bradley later this year, and it's a very winnable fight for khan. bradley isn't a big puncher, and khan is faster.

 

The guy has talent, a lot of it, but is a little over-rated to be fair.

I genuinely dislike him from what i've seen and heard of him, though I will be happy to back him when he actually starts fighting decent opponents. I know it's not all his fault, promoters etc, but now that he holds a title he has a duty to start facing tougher competition.

Cliche, but I think his chin will let him down, even if it does improve, cause right now it's frankly AWFUL. He's been dropped and decked by mid-30's super-featherweights, and Prescott (who turned out to be no where near the banger he was made out to be) absolutely ****ed him up - his jab actually wobbled Khan, when he got clocked he collapsed like a sack of **** in a heap, then the second knockdown he looked like he was dying. His chin, at least up until now, is genuinely dire.

 

I doubt it to be honest, there's too much talent in there. His win over Kotelnik was impressive, but Kotelnik was made to order for him from a perspective of world class junior welterweights, a technically good fighter with moderate speed and without the power to hurt him. Since the Prescott loss, Khan has ben manipulated to a title without really having to face anyone who could hurt him. To be fair Roach has made some clear improvements, his defence is tighter and he's putting his punches together better. He could beat a lot of top ten fighters, Diaz, Malignaggi, Alexander etc... who don't have great power. However, I personally will not be convinced about him as a possible top dog at 140 until I see him take on and beat a top class junior welter who can actually punch. Maidana would be a good start, if not, Ortiz, Holt, Urango, maybe even Hatton if he ever bothers with it again. Bradley is a funny one, whilst he is not superb in any department (including power), he is a very strong all rounder and I would fancy him to have too much for Khan until Khan shows otherwise.

 

Bradley would knock him the **** out easily. but I think he can beat the rest in the 140 division.

 

Khan at 22 has got 5-8 years to get better and dominate.

He's very talented for a fighter so young. I think he does have a suspect chin, but isn't nearly as bad as people portray it to be. He clearly couldn't take a shot at 135, because he's naturally big (frame) and had to shrivel up to make the weight.

Bradley is good. I like the way he completely neutralized Witter's attack effortlessly when he came over here. But he's short and I think Khan keeps him away too easily.

I think Khan has got the best chance of any current fighter to go on and dominate the LWW and WW divisions. Of course this doesn't mean he will.

 

khan has incredible hand speed. chin is questionable though.

 

Bradley VS Khan is THE fight at LWW. This is the fight that SHOULD happen.

 

Kahn's chin will not hold up.

 

Khan is green at the moment, and he's gotta be at least 2/3 years away from reaching his peak.

I think his defence needs much improvement before being put in the ring with monsters like Maidana or Ortiz. Big hitters like these still make me worry for Khan, and in all honesty he shouldn't even be holding a belt at this stage of his career. The fact that his camp feel he's not ready for a mandatory, tell you just that!

Yes he's still young and inexperienced, and he needs to be brought on slowly. I won't oppose his team for carefully picking his opponents, however if this habit remains for the majority of his career (like it did Calzaghe), then without doubt he will recieve a lot of criticism, and deservedly so. But until then, we need to remain patient and see how he develops.
