It's tough not to go with Corrales-Castillo. Vazquez-Marquez III epic fight, Barrera-Morales I epic fight, Adamek-Briggs I and II both epic fights (and vastly underrated fights) Margarito-Cotto epic fight, "a modern day classic!" oh yea and you have Ward-Gatti I. So, many epic fights this decade it's very hard to pick just one fight.
Corrales castillo 1. Pac and marquez's two fights were good as well not as dramatic but they were intriguing none the less.
Althought this fight flew under the radar it can measure up to any of the above mentioned. Julio Gonzalez/Julian Letterlough(RIP)
I think people are focusing on the "BIG NAMES"...But IMO this fight will always TOPS for the Decade!!!! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exRwI13ygVg"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exRwI13ygVg[/ame]
Yeah, why not. I remember going kookoo at the end, screaming to my wife in disbelief of what I just witnessed. :bbb
I WONDER what happened too captain america EX GORRILLA FIGHTER. AROUND THE WORLD IN 86 DAYS. i WANT MY COUNTRY TO THANK ME PERVERT OF THE YEAR:huh
Yeah it's my choice aswell. Still don't know where Chico got that thing in him to come back and stop Jose Luis. Unbelievable.
great pick! still for me gatti-ward 1 destroys corrales-castillo. i really liked it, don't get me wrong just never saw the huge appeal that others did. brilliant fight, fight of the year but that's where it ends for me. gatti-ward still takes my breath away every time
In terms of competitiveness Ward/Gatti might equal Chico/Castillo, but in terms of skill level and significance for the sport it's just not on the same level.
absolutely but for entertainment value, back and forth action, drama and heart i put ward/gatti a step above. chico/castillo was for the real lightweight belt and was two world class fighters. ward/gatti was for bragging rights as the toughest **** of their generation. which is part i guess of why i love it so much: they laid it all on the line just because their warriors. and i'll take the 9th round of gatti ward over 10th round of chico/castillo any day of the week.
I remember the announcer saying dont step away.. .this is going to be a war..lol. This fight was boxing at its best. The in-fighting.. ****.. I thought Corrales was going to keep the fight on the outside but as he said "he packed his lunch pale and went in to work".. God damn hell of a fight.
