Wouldn't make the slightest difference whether this is at LWW or WW, don't know why anyone would think it would.

Cobbler are you saying that Pac would knock him out at either weight?

I'm saying that the weight, strength, fitness and condition of both fighters in the ring would be no different whether the weigh in limit was140 or 147lbs.

I dunno if he is, but I am. It was only JMM's power and accuracy which got him through a torrid battle with Juan Diaz. JMM had real trouble with Diaz's size and physicality early on. It was clear then that JMM was not even a big lw. Pac's frame handles the weight so much better. The Pac who fought Hatton absolutely decimates the Marquez who fought Mayweather.

:huh You think Marquez would be the same at 147 as he would at 140? Couldn't disagree more. Marquez looked visibly overweight and bloated round the midriff at 142. He would look ready to give birth if he went up to 147.

Weight and fitness Ok, but Power???

Pacquiao's power is devastating at 140-145 not so sure about Juan......

147 is the maximum weight, not the minimum. If the fight was signed at 147 neither fighter would be likely to actually weigh in on the limit, or particularly close. Which was my exact point. It wouldn't make any difference to the fighters in the ring.

JMM is a genuine powerpuncher at 135. When he hit Mayweather flush, PBF just grinned, and Mayweather has been rocked by Chop Chop Corley. It is clear that the extra weight made JMM sluggish and sapped the venom from his punching. And you're quite right in pointing out that the opposite is true of Pac, the extra muscle is giving him single-shot power he didn't have to the same extent when he was at 130.

Pac weighed 144 with a 145 limit. He regularly weighs 148-149 on fightnight now. If the limit was 147, he could easily come in at 146. Marquez on the other hand looked fat at 142, he would never come in that high again. If they fought at a 147 limit, I'd expect Pac at 146 and Marquez around 137ish on the scales, a huge difference from if they were both given a 140 limit.

Explain how it would make a difference to his power if he weighed in at 144lbs and came to the ring at 148lbs, or if he weighed in at 140lbs and came to the ring at 148lbs?

Pacquiao weighed in at 138 against Hatton and came to the ring at 148lbs. So there would be no difference if the weigh-in was set at 140lbs, the size difference would be the same in the ring.

But Pac could come in at 146 with a 147 limit, that is not inconceivable at all, in fact I'd say it was pretty likely the way he is going. This means he could rehydrate to more than if he was forced to weigh in at 140. Like Team Pac made Cotto come in at 145 just to make it a little less comfortable for him, Team Marquez could do so to Pac with a 140 limit. It may not make a great deal of difference on fightnight, or it may limit Pac's rehydration weight, but it would certainly make weighing in a little less comfortable for him than giving him a 147 limit where he doesn't need to be concerned about his weight at all.

Pacquiao's in ring weights have been fairly consistent for years. He weighed 144lbs in the ring against Morales and Barrera. Now he weighs around 148lbs on fight night. There's no real advantage to him in going higher than that.

Cotto said Manny hit him the hardest he'd ever been hit, do you think Juan has the same poke up at 147? (Did Juan actually weigh 147 in the ring against Mayweather?)

I think Manny would have finished Juan Diaz like David Diaz. Not had an back and forth war.
