bit of both, any fighter who is connected to frank warren is always going to be protected but now with freddie roach on board i think he is being brought along at the right pace, hes only young, theres no need to rush him if hes not ready...

I would say protected, at least nowadays....his management has been down right weird...they put him in there with light punchers, and he still got rocked, then all of a sudden they throw him in there with a crude banger in prescott:huh I don't know what made warren do that....the trouble signs were already there....

Now he is being protected....he goes on the record, laughing and joking "kotlenik is the worst champion in the division"....then Boom....Khan-Kotelnik is announced....

Then what has really irritated me about khan was his treatment of hatton....Before the pacquiao fight, "no way will I fight ricky"....Then after hatton's loss, " It would be a good fight and opportunity to fight ricky"....

Khan is a skilled fighter, but I think he is getting overrated.....Let's look at his most recent opponents...Kotelnik, who is just slower then a sloth, Barrera, who was old and fat at LW, and he also fought the "can" salita.....This all points to being well protected......I question his management, as I stated above...

Bear in mind he's still young and inexperienced - very few boxers fight elite opposition in their early 20s. People talk about Warren being cautious, and he is, but from now on Khan is pretty much calling the shots since he is on a fight by fight deal. If Warren doesnt deliver the fights Khan wants, then he'll find somebody who will. That said, i think Warren's influence is strengthened by the Prescott KO - that fight was taken on the instructions of the cuban trainer, with Warren said to have been apprehensive - and Khan and his familiy will have more respect for his views as a result.

I'd expect him to have a fight against a faded type with a still somewhat credible name, like Judah, next, and then he'll be fighting elite guys and real contenders.

no doubt he's been protected throughout his career. but khans decision whether or not he'll take the maidana fight will answer all questions.

Every young fighter is "protected". Amir Khan is much too young to be labeled like that, he has only just turned 23. I think he is being guided at the right pace. He was being moved up and up and then had that horrible knock-out so of course he had to have a few confidence boosting fights, he then beat Andreas who isn't the best obviously but was a solid little fighter and then Salita and you can say what you want about that, but that was a Mandatory fight. But final answer. No. He is being guided through the ranks well, I just hope the rumors are false about him fighting Timothy Bradley next because I don't think he is ready just yet for that kind of level.

Tim Bradley ****s Amir Khan up real bad if they meet right now...
Lamont Peterson teaches Amir Khan a lesson on inside fighting...
Juan Urango breaks his jaw if they meet in a fight...
Kendall Holt smashes his chin to bits...

What is all the hype with this guy again?

    Almost forgot:
Ricardo Torres - puts Khan to sleep.
Paulie Malignaggi - gives Khan a boxing lesson and wobbles him once or twice.

Obviously he's not too protected when there is a loss on his record at such an early age.
