If cortez was not the referee theres no doubt hatton would of won.

got to agree that cortez ruined that hatton fight. what made it even harder to swallow was the way he referee'd hopkins v calzaghe from a completely opposite point of view, allowing hopkins to hug and fight dirty.

i lost all respect for cortez after that. i thought it stank how in such a short space of time he changed his refereeing methods in order to favour the 2 homebased american fighters.

Floyd showed he was stronger on the inside anyway, Hatton wouldn't have gotten any joy trying his usual tactics if he had been allowed.

I hated Hattons hit and hold tactics as well, i wish more refs and stopped it.

I really have lost all respect for Cortez in recent years the Humberto Soto incident where he was DQ'd just takes the cake. Hatton would never have won but the fight would have been closer. But one thing me and my brother pointed out when rewatching it was how Ricky did his ususal inside buissnes and then Floyd did it back and Ricky did not liek it. Floyd fought fire with fire and discouraged Hatton. Another point I will make was how in Floyd Castillo 1 refreee Vic Drkulic broke them everytime they were close even when there was no clinch or they had already fought theyre way out. Love or hate Merchant but he was getting mad and yelling cause that ref kept stopping the action for no reason

not only that.. but did anyone see Cortez trip Hatton and send him flying face first in the ringpost. That son of a ***** knocked Hatton out and here Floyd is getting all the credit for it..

It also annoyed me Cortez was an idiot, but ultimately it wasn't cortez who lost him that fight. Mayweather was not looking so good the first half of the bout, but he eventually made it his fight, and Hatton just wasn't good enough to beat him, too reckless and when FMM figured it out he could just slip and counter. A really nice knockout IMO.

How could you not notice? and For those who say Floyd would have won anyway we'll never know, but I'm glad he did and He has finally been cornered by a better fighter.

**** off please, you and the other idiots that think so. Did you watch Hatton vs Tszyu?, now THAT'S a fight where a referee ruins it all yet you don't see the drunken losers saying anything about that, right?

Cortez did EXACTLY what Bailes was going to do when Hatton fought Pacquiao and you can see it in the very first round, Hatton tries his UFC tactics which are only allowed in England for hometown fighters and Bailes immediately separates them. Pacquiao just finished the job way quicker that's why people can't complain. If you think that holding at will, elbows, shoving, headbutts, combinations to the balls, rabbit punches, combinations to the back of the head, bodyslams, choking and knee shots are fair then jump out of the ****ing window and make sure your beer bottle is halfway in your ass before jumping so you die the death you truly dream of and deserve.
