Indeed. It would be an easy fight to market on SBO and, if everyone is sensible, they should put it on the undercard of Urango-Alexander. It's a brilliant fight and should be made, IMO. Khan UD after some close moments:deal.

If he fought a bum the public would RIGHTLY be very pissed off! but do you think that Warren is that stupid? the PPV would be a disaster! aswell as making his only world champion even more unpopular. Don't forget that Roach would publicly strongly disapprove of this, as he said he wants Jadah, Bradley or Malignaggi next for Khan and he wants it state side.

Who do you think Khan and his family trust and respect more, Warren or Roach?

But like I said Warren ain't that stupid. He knows he can't get away with what he used to anymore..... just look at the way he's matching the three olympians campared to Audley Harrison and Amir Khan, early in their careers. He HAS to match his most high profile fighters harder now.

Maidana is a reasonably worthy contender but its hardly a genuine world title fight is it?

Lets hope Khan's team take the fight, i dont think Khan will want his belt taken away from him via vacating it. I remember Roach saying they dont fear anyone at 140 and he was asked what about Maidana he said we will take that fight, but lets build that fight up. I remember reading that after Kotelnik win.

There could be another option one i feel Warren might be looking at is Bradley, 5'6, not a big puncher, more respectable, higher ranked than Maidana, holds the WBO title. Warren must be thinking Khan with his speed and reach over Bradley he can do a number on him, and this is without risking putting Khan in with a big puncher.

I feel in fact Bradley would be a much harder fight for Khan.

All depends on who he fights if dose indeed 'duck' Maidana who I see as quite beatable for Khan. Malignaggi is a better fighter than Maidana but as a non puncher you can imagine the shitstorm of abuse he'd from the knuckle draggers in the gf.
Bradley I see as someone who'd beat Khan.

I think it's ludicrous for Khan to consider vacating rather than facing Maidana.

In my opinion there is no bigger fight out there for Khan. Maidana is known in America after his belter fight with Ortiz, they have a common opponent in Kotelnik, and any fight marketed as a huge puncher verses Khan's chin is going to sell well.

For what it's worth i think Khan would stop him late, Maidana isn't hard to hit and Khan's speed and movement should frustrate him and pick him apart.

Also, vacating the belt rather than facing a huge puncher isn't going to do Khan any favours, regardless of whether or not he takes on a harder fight such as Bradley.

i'd definitely like khan to face maidana. i'd be annoyed if he vacates to fight mallignagi, even though its a decent fight, as it would look like he was going for the lighter-punching alternative.

i wouldn't mind if he vacates to fight bradley or alexander.

    Exactly.

Maidana isn't all that good, but Khan would look like a bit of a fraud vacating, especially to face Malignaggi, who is best known for a one sided stoppage loss to Hatton.

Vacating to challenge is another thing, but people will still look at KO ratios. Maidana is above 90%, the others are close to 50%.

I'd take Khan to beat (and stop) Maidana on current form, make the fight happen!

That's not really relevant if he's being made a mandatory.

This would be a decent keep busy fight but I thought he did not need to take a mandatory for quite awhile?

Khan can face some better names like Malinfaggi, Nate Cambell and Juan Diaz in the US. All decent but below Khans level and all capable of giving him the rounds to make him better so that when the huge fights come he will be ready.

Khan would beat Maidana - his speed would be too much. Look how Ortiz was able to score his flash knockdowns against him. Maidana deserves his shot at the belt and the fight should go ahead.
