Yeah Ortiz over Rose is less controversial, and fair.

Not sure how Dixon and McHovern would fare though. Have only seen MGovern vs Gans. Wasn't McGovern quite similar to Olivares, in style and lifestyle?

Great to see Lionel getting some love here...Personally I dont think even Id have him that high and he is probably my favorite Aussie fighter ever.
But he certainly deserves some respect...would you believe he isnt in the HOF.

Im a massive fan of Rose and Famechon just 2 beautifully pure boxers - Famechon even more so.

Thats a disgrace Rose is HOF worthy

Johnny was an excellent boxer..just was unfortunate to be around when the division was red hot with the likes of Legra, Saldivar, Winstone, etc.

I know I am biased and certainly in the minority (OK the only one, LOL!), but I like Joltin' Jeff Chandler to take him on pts!

Where does Jeff fit into anyones rankings? top 10? top 20? Non factor?

I like Olivares, and rate him highly...but due to my personal bias I like Jeff's chances with any of em'...

Go ahead and pick me apart!

You saying both at their very best Philly.

Without a doubt I could see Jeff knocking off an underdone, partied out Ruben...both at their best however.....

Jeff's probably in the middle of the 10-20 range IMO..without even thinking about it at all or about who ranks ahead of him. I just sort of see him as that level..But if actually tried to research it properly he might bump up a few spots..or even go down.

I try not to let my Philly bias cloud my judgement as much as I used to when I was younger, LOL! But it is still hard! I rank him 9th (probably slightly higher than most)...but H2H I can't compromise that bias..Oh well!

Can't see an argument for Rose above Ortiz, not by a long shot to be honest. Rose is borderline top 10, as talented as he was.

:good agreed i cant see Rose near the top 5.
    1 Ortiz
    2.Olivares
    3.Jofre- is a close 3rd
    4.Zarate
    5. Theres a few ill have to :huh about that one oh Yeah Panama Al Brown

How come i never hear Jeff Chandler mentioned as one of the greats he is far more qualified than Lionel Rose. He was A pfp guy for many years in the rich talent of fighters from the early 80s.

I think you make an argument for Olivares to be number 1 over Jofre.
