I think they'll be a whole lot more interested in what Warren has to say than they were before the prescott fight. The trainer picked that opponenent, against Warren's instincts.

Why isn't it a legitimate world title fight? Khan vs Maidana is a great well matched fight. He has a great record and many people thought he beat Kotelnik.

Ortiz was too reckless against Maidana, he was boxing well then when he landed a big shot he was always coming in behind it trying to finish Maidana off in style and getting caught. Khan if he sticks to a game plan will have a great chance against Maidana but there's always the chance a big punch comes along.

Would hate to see Khan pass on this. At the minute Maidana is a very good name and he is also very beatable.

Khan REALLY needs a win against a puncher to increase his standing in the sport; he's been decked and dropped by feather fisted fighters who are much smaller and older than him, and the first legit LW he fought had him dropped like a sack of **** within a minute.

I havent seen a huge amount of Maidana but from what I have, I think Khan can beat him. Thing is though, Khan seems rather robotic; he doesnt seem natural or fluid at all, and I think he has a very poor ring IQ and survival instincts. Maidana may well just have to clip him to get Khan to back off and become tentative.

If Maidana gets him in trouble (one punch is all it will take) then there's a HIGH risk that he'll end it right then and there.

Khan will have to fight a very cautious fight with no room for error.

    Interesting fight.

Because tim Bradley and manny are world champs in this division, khan won the belt of the man, who beat the man, who beat no one! No lineage not a real title fight

Here's my thoughts, from another thread:

Khan CAN win this. Maidana is outmanouverable and can be hurt. With Khans speed and half-decent power, plus his fast feet and improved defence, he can win, either on points or a stoppage at some point by overwhelming him.

Maidana is not a great offensive fighter; he's wild. However, because of his tenacity he is somewhat unpredictable; there's a chance he will land some big shots on Khan. Also, he is fairly relentless, and has proved that when being outboxed (Kotelnik at times; close fight that was) or outfought (Ortiz at times) he can come back and be dangerous as soon as he's on two feet.

This is a perfect fight for Khan. What's the point in improving your defence and winning a World title if you're going to defend against feather fists and duck your mandatory???

If he gives up the belt, it will show that either he, Warren or Roach doesn't have the faith in him. Personally I feel he can win. Khan has a lot of confidence and I think he would like to take it.

It's very, very frustrating. Thing is, Khan will get support if he 'ducks' Maidana nonetheless. It's seems to me that if they do duck him (it hasn't happened yet don't forget) that it will show they are trying to delay the inevitable and make as much cash out of him as possible.

Bad chin aside, he's a gifted young athlete; he should be taking on the best fights available. Maidana is a PERFECT fight for Khan. A better fighter than Prescott, it will truly prove that Khan can face an awkward puncher.

I'm sure Rees as a 'former champ' will be pushed as a future opponent. Shame.

If Amir Khan throws away his "dream" of being a world champion because the next opponent is too tough then he will get **** and deservedly so !!!

I wonder what all the people claiming " oh its the promotor" think about the Bowe lewis situation !!!

Even IF he does take a bigger fight down the line he doesnt want to throw his title in the trash thats for sure.

No Paule m Diaz or Bradley crap either, this opponent has won a big hbo fight and toppled one of their stars !!!!!!

this is disgusting if it happens !!

The difference is Bowe had beaten Holyfield, who had beaten douglas, who had beaten Tyson etc etc.... Khan is no world champion. He is in terms of modern day boxing but in historical terms he's no more a world champion then Shea Neary or Ricky Hatton or even Sammy Fuentas etc.... In fact even they were more legitimate then Khan.

Interesting logic, are Froch and Haye world champions?

Worst thing is people like McGuigan would harp on about how avoiding boxer a,b or c is exactly the right thing to do

Froch i'd say possibly.... Calzaghe vacated its debatable who his succesor was....

Haye? Most consider the linear title to be vacant. I think Vlad and Peter contested it after Vitali won it against Sanders. For me Vlad is the champion. Vitali is the better fighter though./

How is Bradley a 'world champion' if Khan isn't? There's no lineage there either. Bradley - Witter - no one.
