Just rewatched hatton vs mayweather. All i have to say is hatton has a heck of chin. In rounds 1-6 hatton was just storming straight threw all of mayweathers punches. Its a shame hattons arms are so short, mayweather had a 6 inch reach advantage in the fight.

Hatton's feet were also really fast in the fight. At times hed land a leaping left hook or leaping jab at mayweather. He forced mayweather to work but in the end mayweather was just too skillful using movement and holding in close to slow down hatton whilst preserving his own energy. Also PBF can really put his shots together with serious power when he wants to. There were some tasty combos going in, near the end.

PBF was simply majestic in the last four rounds of that fight.

Hatton is no Pac, but I don't believe that anyone in and around the weight class since I followed boxing in the mid-late 80s could live with the PBF of that night.

Hatton's punch resistance has declined over the years, his defence has also worsened considerably.

Did you see his fight against Eamon Magee? Hatton's defense has always been absolutely terrible. His quality of opposition is what changed.

I'm ok with Hatton, but he had no business being in the ring with a fighter of Pacquiao's caliber.

His chin has taken a denting against Money and I feel probably another bad one against Pac. But we will have to see about that.

He took some great shots against Tszyu...His chin gets the job done but as has been mentioned his defense is what lets him down. You really need an exceptional chin to get away with how he fights against the punchers at the highest level.

he was poor for the first few rounds against Magee. I would point to Tackie and Phillips fights.

Hatton's chin is excellent, that's how I would rate it. Even though the Tszyu fight was a fiasco in his favor with a list of new rules all applied in their strategy without a single warning but cheers of drunken no hoping worthless garbage he still took Tszyu's punches well. NO, Tszyu wasn't able to set his self to throw and land ENOUGH but he did land a few single power shots here and there that Hatton was able to absorb. Don't be deceived by the rest of the punches Tszyu landed, most of them had no power on them anyway because of Hatton hug, lowblow, elbow and headbutt tactic. A few did land and I didn't expect him to take it based on getting dropped against McGee.

Hatton also showed a quality chin against Mayweather, Malignaggi, Lazcano, Maussa, Phillips and others. I know some here would be laughing at Malignaggi's name being mentioned and Maussa, didn't Malignaggi stun BOTH Cotto and Diaz with single punches?, Hatton walked right into them without blinking for a second. Maussa also hurt Cotto and KO'd Harris, Hatton took his punches pretty well.

Duran was KO'd in 2 rounds against Hearns does that mean let's call him glass jaw and forget that he took punches from Hagler, Leonard and ENDLESS elite opposition very well?

The way hatton was fighting PBF was ridiculous and effective whilst his chin held up.

He was taking the same punch that KO'd him from round 1 to 10 over and over. If he has a glass jaw he would have dropped the first time it landed in the first round. Hatton was taking punches from someone with speed he has never ever seen before his entire career and took them well.

Its not even that, hatton was full on walking into straight right hands and check hooks all night. Seriously the guys chin is underrated since he was brutally dispatched by pacquiao.

Hatton's punch resistance was good, but seems to be diminishing. I remember thinking that the fight with Pacquiao was going to be competitive, but figuring that Pacquiao had it after seeing how easily he was able to hurt Hatton. That one right hook he landed, while off the ropes, had Hatton holding on and he seemed hurt. Also, Hatton kept making the same mistake of leaping in with that left hook and getting caught, basically JUMPING INTO THE SHOTS he was taking. The left hooks landed by Mayweather and Lazcano, the right hook by Pacquiao on the first KD.

He had a pretty solid one but was on the decline since the Tszyu fight. He deteriorated so rapidly because of the blowing up in weight between fights and then suddenly shedding all that extra weight in a matter of weeks. His idiotic lifestyle basically did him in.

I know that, the same thing people said about Duran after he got KO'd against Hearns. If you check the comments and documentaries at that time regarding that fight you will see that people also looked at him as a soft target like Hatton is being looked at right now. Fact is, this happens to the greatest available. Happened to Norton, Frazier and the examples are endless.

his punch resistance was never that good, he got dropped by maggee, hurt many times in the domestic ranks, put on ***** street by feather fisted collazo, knocked out by floyd mayweather (who isn't a very hard puncher at higher weights), wobbled by lazcano a blown up lightweight and then finally knocked the **** out by pacquiao.

It's crazy, fighters now lose punch resistance after one KO loss. The lengths where people go to, to discredit another fighter's win. Pre-internet forum era fighters didn't lose their chin like that, tsk, tsk.
