Ian Darke and Richie Woodhall would be the best. Sky must of realised at the Haye fight it was time to get rid of Watt.

you cant exactly accuse them of bias after that one.

in the US Showtime are pure class. HBO Lampley is good and i like lennox lewis and manny steward. Kellerman and Merchant are just terrible. I also like the fact they have judges card every round.

have you notice how US commentary they dont really discuss the action.

If I could change one thing about British commentary it would be to get rid of Jim Watt.

Does anyone think Jim Watt has one of those slightly melancholy sounding Scottish accents? That's not to say they all are, but his accent specifically just seems a little bit depressing during a fight, as if no matter what happens everything will eventually go to **** anyway... :think

I certainly rate the HBO and Showtime guys as the best in the World but the Sky team are, in my opinion, 3rd best. If anyone seriously belives that Sky are awful then they need to watch some coverage of RTE from Republic of Ireland. Truely shocking.

All of them do that to different degrees. Lampley, Merchant, Kellerman, Watt, Darke, Smith, Rawling, Bernstein, Sheridan, Tessitore, Atlas... et al, all have a habit of cheerleading for their favourites or the home fighter.

Merchant, in fairness, is one of the better ones. A bad fight is always a bad fight to him. He rarely allows fighters excuses, and he always asks difficult questions. It's a shame he's nearly finished up with HBO. Hometown bias rarely factors in for him.

But it yet again displayed Watt's complete lack of perspective and his continued dislike for Haye. He said at the beginning Haye wouldn't win, and he was determined to prove he was right. Dreadful commentating.

Watt is good he has good insights. Darke is a great blow by blow announcer. Rawling is top class you know he has researched it thouroghly.

    The rest are all good

But Bernstein is the best. Merchant is good but he sometimes dosent speak for 6 rounds.

Yep, Ian Darke is the best we have but even he gets carried away with all the hyperbole in the big fights.

As for other countries commentary, HBO are dreadful, Jim Lampley with his cheerleading is cringeworthy, Larry Merchant isn't the same as he used to be and don't get me started on Kellerman, Lennox isn't bad though or Steward.

    Showtime are the best.

    no its still bad!

i was watching the hbo version of williams vs martinez, although their commentary is usually good this time Lampley was discrediting everything Williams was doing and just hanging offof martinez's nut.

i was rooting for martinez and it annoyed the **** out of me.

Stuff like "they call if the negro from newry, and thats not a racist thing to say" or "here's the Portadown pikey, and thats not a racist name"

I realise those places are in the north, just using them as an example.

Has me in stitches at how awfully bad RTE can be, and how they get away with stuff like that.
