Got to be Duddy versus Lee this year it makes sense for both now,Mackiln is out ahead of both and both guys need a well documented and high profile win, Lee/Duddy MSG St Patricks day for the Irish title would be ideal.Sinclair/Moore on the undercard just to add to the fantasy,Well a guy can dream cant he
Not sure mate but I don't think it will be too long. I've seen both of JJ's fights so far and Paddy's first. Out of the two I think JJ is maybe better although it's hard to tell at this earlt stage and Paddy is a little fleshy at the weight.
That's unlikely imo, I'd say Arum will have him fight on the undercard of his New York fights to sell tickets and keep Duddy from anyone too tough till he throws him in with another Arum fighter like Pavlik, Chavez jnr(when he's back), Korobov(after he's gained more experience) or Matirosyan, Foreman, Wolak(if they move up in weight or at a catch weight). Ideally Arum would be building John back up and then luring Sylvester over to the United States but I think it's very unlikely for him to put that much time and energy into John when he can make good money matching him against hasbeens, and neverbeens in New York before enhancing a better prospects name with him. It's a real shame the Chavez jnr fight isn't coming off because that was a real winnable fight for John and would have given his career a serious boost.
These are more posts from the Setanta Christmas show on the Brit Forum. The way I see it, is if Setanta can get Bunce on board, it can only benefit the sport in this country. If Bunce is working for Setanta again he could at some point charm, persuade or threaten Setanta into putting some serious investment the way of our promoters, which could result in more live Irish boxing on TV, and better opportunities for our boxers. Irish professional boxing [particularly in the 26 counties] will stagnate without more TV backing for our promoters, so this is crucial. We need to email Setanta and inform them how much we enjoyed this Christmas show, and that we want more of the same. Well the ball is in our court now, that's make our voices heard.
bam bam my old chum. i just uploaded some action pictures from my last fight in magherafelt so you can swipe them on me if you want and stick them on the supporters club page. jesus its going well now
I'll nick them in a while. Yeah its going very well so far. Seems to be a lot of women folk signing up as well (not that I noticed ), is there anything you want to confess to ?
there has been a few rumors that peters is planing an irish middleweight prize fighter!!! Imagine that! unreal! Imagine once more a Irish middleweight tournament!
lads Setanta are broke and cant afford boxing or a boxing show! thats just the facts of it! we will have to wait till there on their feet again! then they will bring the bunce back
hows it goin men just signed up to the forum, alot of interesting topics, hav watched alot of irish boxing over the past few years and woz wondering of all the fights you cud see this year coming, which wud b no.1 on your list 2 c??????????
Michael Kelly V ***an :smoke But I would also like to see maybe 1 or 2 of the Hylands fighting in big Euro fights or Mccloskey getting a chance at a world title.
How much money would it cost for Setanta to show delayed or live fights from the US? I wouldn't think it would be too much money. If Setanta were to get involved and buy up the rights to fights from the US and show the German cards they had on Setanta Ireland I would easly sign up for them straight away. As for Irish cards it would be great but with what went on with the Hyland card I cant see them showing live fights from here but it wouldnt shock me if they did do it. They need to bring in extra money and if they show boxing there are people who will be more than happy to pay to see it.
This content is protected CORK, Ireland Unbeaten Cuban bantamweight Alexei The Hurricane Acosta, now fighting out of Ireland, will cross the Atlantic Ocean later this month to prepare for his United States pro debut in 2010. The 21-year-old Acosta defected from Cuba in 2008 and signed a managerial contract with Cork, Ireland-based Gary Hyde, president of Nowhere To Hyde Promotions. The thrilling, power-punching Acosta made his pro debut September 13, 2008, knocking out Krastan Krastanov in the second round of their fight in Cork. Fighting exclusively as a pro in Ireland and Great Britain, Acosta has stopped all nine of his opponents, the last this past November, via a second-round stoppage of Sean Hughes (15-9-1) on Belfast. Ive always dreamed of becoming world champion as a professional, 2006 Junior World champion Acosta explained in fluent English, but that that was never going to be possible if I stayed in my native Cuba. The hardest thing for me was leaving my family behind in Cuba, especially my son, Michel. My dream is going to become a reality soon, when I go the United States and win the world title in six or seven more fights. Hyde has been involved in talks with some leading boxing promoters interested in signing his top fighter, 2-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux (4-0, 3 KOs), the multi-talented bantamweight who had an incredible 243-4 amateur record. They have all also expressed interest in signing Acosta, Hyde noted. I hope to have Alexei fighting alongside Guillermo because this will give him the best possible platform to shine. Alexei is very excited about fighting on the important U.S. circuit. Belfasts Tony Dunlop coaches Alexei, who has punching power in both hands and hasnt been extended more than three rounds in any of his nine pro fights. Hyde also manages two other Cuban boxers, heavyweight Mike The Rebel Perez (8-0, 6 KOs), winner of the World Junior Championships; and super middleweight Luis El Leon Garcia (5-0, 4 KOs), 2006 World Junior Championships winner, in addition to Irish super middleweight brothers J.J. Slick (2-0, 2 KOs) and Paddy McDonagh (2-0). My original plan was to bring my Cuban fighters to Ireland and, after they built-up respectable records, send them to the U.S. to win major titles. I picked three of the brightest young stars on the Cuban National Team, but I also needed one of the most decorated amateurs ever to go pro, Rigo, as my key for fighting them all in the U.S. My plan was sidetracked for a while due to the Rigondeaux situation (Hyde recently won a legal judgment in Miami that validated his managerial contract with Rigondeaux). I am now putting it all back together with Acosta joining Rigondeaux (living in Los Angeles) in the U.S. I will be spending a lot more time in the United States, developing my team in 2010, and they should all be ready for global dominance by the end of this year.
