weight was a factor, for marquez, he was sluggish and looked lethargic, he didn't know how to put the weight on properly, he used a bodybuilders protocol.

Sure Floyd was bigger than Marquez, but it all came down to skill.

It was not like he pulled a Margarito job on JMM and dogged him out, he beautifully outboxed the man who technically was on par, if not above Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd has nasty counterpunching ability, and Pacquiao will pay the price if he ever steps up.

To answer your question, I would say a fairly balanced mixture of reach, height and skill/speed.

Im done, skill is more of a factor of course as I said Floyd would of won regardless but he made sure of it by stacking the deck in his favor to a rediculous extreme. JMM despite his great wins was very noticably slower at 135 then he has to jump up two weight divisions to fight a guy who was faster than him to begin with and dont forget origionally 140 then 144 then two seperate weight contracts(wtf) and Floyd at least 15 pounds heavier. What im saying is It's easy to outbox a guy when you make sure he doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of beating you. I dont think we should applaud or pretend this was a great win for Mayweather, people would be pissed if Williams made Bradley or Alexander move up to 154 to face him and rightfully so, very few would say Williams won because of skill he outboxed him easy not because they were terribly slower at the weight etc. the only fighters that can move up in weight like that and win or at least make it competive usually have great hand speed and JMM did not posses that. Anyhow thats my 2 cents.

Marquez at the weight could only fight 1 paced which was not a very fast one by his standards , first factor .

Floyd had no respect for Marquez's punching power as his shots lacked any snap and he barely caught Floyd with anything other than single shots .

Floyd used his size advantage well when on the inside (very rarely) and used his reach very well from the outside .

In summary Floyd in every department apart from heart is better than Marquez and the size advantage made it that much more 1 sided .

If it was all about skill and not size then floyd should have taken the fight at 135 , and what would this have done? make him weaker and slower due to being drained , exactly the same when jumping up the weights as JMM did slow and weak at 147 .

Dont give me this 'skills pays the bills' , floyd on his comeback fight fought a man from two weight divisions lower and did what any top welter of today would do to a lightweight , and that was make it look easy.

By holding every conceivable advantage in the matchup.

Size plays a role but it wasn't 100% size, that's nonsense. Didn't people also count Pac out COMPLETELY when he fought DLH based on size and only size?, if anything Pac made DLH's size look to be a disadvantage with his movement and speed, he made DLH look like a zombie. If DLH won everyone would say 100% size but because he lost people can't help but jump on the "shot and old" excuse list or drained, fact is people didn't think he would be drained or shot fighting a way smaller guy because of size.

Mayweather basically outclassed him, outlanded him, made him miss and made him look slow. Put him in there against anyone else in the same weight category and you will see Marquez doing FAR better.

How so, Floyd is unlikely to ever make 140lbs again, let alone 135lbs.

i voted for 75% skill 25% weight, but he can beat JMM without the weight advantege anyways no doubt about it. but IMO it would have been a little bit more competitive if he decided to fight him at 140lbs. JMM was simply just too sluggish and slow that night.

I was explaining it it the same logic when comments are made that weight was not a factor and only skill was, would floyd be effective at 135 at this point in his career? no because he wouldnt be able to make the weight , and the reverse applies to JMM 147 .

Let's not forget JMM called out Floyd and Floyd just so happens to fight at 147. JMM didn't have to bulk up above his natural weight, and I think he did himself a disservice by doing that. He did look slower, and I don't think he added any power with the extra weight. Size was a factor, as I've already said. I just didn't see Floyd imposing his size as much as nullifying everything JMM tried to do while potshotting at will.

Well, presumably, part (or whole) of what allowed Mayweather to "control the range" was the fact that he was bigger and had a much longer reach, meaning Marquez had to constantly reach in order to land anything, which (unsurprisingly) didn't work and Mayweather could just get off first and then move away. JMM is hardly an inside fighter, now, is he?

5" reach advantage, 1" height advantage....Without the skill to keep him outside that wouldn't mean ****. Guys have overcome much larger height/reach defecits than that. Like I said about five times now, size was a factor, and skill was even more of a factor.

A 130 Floyd beats a 130 Marquez. That would be a fair fight and a good fight, but Floyd would win the boxing match and take a UD.

A 146 Floyd beating a 142 Marquez was completely meaningless. Anyone who was natural or comfortable in a welterweight fight would have whipped that version of Marquez. He was overweight, bloated, sluggish, blunted of speed, power, explosiveness.

I don't understand the poll so I'm not going to vote, but making a guy in his mid 30s jump 2 weight divisions rendered the fight a meaningless mismatch before it even started.
