Just to **** stir a bit...You dont honestly think he beat Oscar in the rematch?

Also dont you think that seeing as though very shortly after he won his 147 and 154 titles he was convincingly beaten by two guys that Oscar did not face, doesnt that put some doubt as to who was truly the best in the division?

Not the most famous...not your favorite :D but the true, undisputed best.

Again that can be disputed though, its just an opinion and not necessarily a fact. Im sure if we got a Stevie Johnston or Artur Grigorian fan on hear they would disagree . Two very underrated fighters I might add.

I don't look like him. In my defence I realised I was being a bit harsh and went back and edited it I don't consider you a troll and like the banter:good

You have a lot of knowledge, even if I don't agree with how you aplly it sometimes. But seriously, I don't like having my appearance mocked so stop calling me mcLovin.

No i dont think he beat Oscar the 2nd time, just trying to make my point sound better since thats what the record books say:lol: Well we know why Oscar didnt face Forrest or Winky i distinctivly remember you backing Oscar up on this subject on another thread:yep Yey you know which one im talking about that guy Darryl???? thread on the General. Good points though about him losing to those guys, but like i said about 95% of the ATG all had opponents who they couldnt beat of had life and death with but yet are still rated above.. I believe Shane will be rated above Winky,Forrest when all is said and done. And definitly Cotto.
Also Oscar was seen as the best JM at that time and i think you know that and Forrest hadnt moved up to JM at that time anyways he was busy losing to Mayorga. Winky was busy making his bones at JM against fringe contenders. Also i dont think Mosley was dominated in the 2nd fights with Forrest and Winky he lost but was competetive and did much better than in their 1st fights.

Of course Shane will be rated above Forrest and Cotto. I'd say Winky too, though others might not. Personally wouldn't have Winky in my top 100 :good

Just to clarify anarci...do you not rank pre war fighters at all?

From era do you start ranking?

I was going to ask that!

Do you think Berto is faster than Shane?

Yey i do but mostly only the real elite guys whos abilities were ahead of their time you know like a Langford,Johnson,Tunney,Greb,Leonard,Mcgovern,Fitz,Walker,Gans and quite a few others but not as many as some of you guys, and not as highly although Langford is in my top 5 and Greb around 11 and Leonard around 15. Walker in the lower 20s. Thats just off the top of my head. I dont get into rating Jackie Blackburn and Young Peter Jackson. Maybe I should have two list cause I find it difficult to rate some of these other great pioneers from the turn of the century over Modern greats who are many light years ahead as far as technique and skill go.

I don't rate Berto at all to be honest. Decent, but not great. Too many deficiencies.

Anarci, you should definitely split your lists IMO. Having Langford in but leaving Blackburn out makes little sense IMO, especially when you consider how they went head to head.

There is no sense in which Langford can be said to be "more advanced" thank Blackburn, my instinct is the opposite is true.

Probably especially the version that fought Mayorga and Cotto, but Shane looked back to his old self against Margo(and not just cause margo is slow) If that Shane shows up hes at least on par with Berto if not faster.

Yey i think you are right cause i understand that its not fair to include some greats and not others just because they werent as famous and all. I think I will do that.

Well in that case Shane is top 30:D and Oscar 20-25:D

Not much in it, I would have said Shane has got him for footspeed and combination punching. But for one punch speed, not sure.

Dre is faster then Cotto though...

I think it needs to be said that Margarito just flat out did not hit Sugar...he was also the stronger man which certainly came as a shock. The point is, his balance was totally uncompromised. Retraction, small changes of direction, missing and getting hit can all compromise punch to punch speed...I don't think we'll see Margarito Sugar ever again if i'm honest with you.

I think I had Oscar mid 80's and Shane in the second clutch that didn't make the list, so around 150. I did have some guys above him that wouldn't be above him not though.
