Who will be eliminated from the Super Six after 3 stages?

Taylor and Dirrell

 

These two are running away with it. Taylor, for reasons that have been mentioned far too many times to repeat anymore. Dirrell, because he was robbed in his first fight, being left with 0 points through Stage 1, then having to face what right now appears to be the two favorites of the tournament, back to back. The deck is stacked against Dirrell.

Taylor, no question. And, off his last performance, I'd go with Kessler

 

Really? Dirrell's career will be in pieces after he walks away from the Super 6 0-3. His only chance against AA is to run the whole fight and hope the home town judges actually accept it.

 

Still I think I overreacted. But goddamn, they were picking Kessler to KO Chad Dawson did you see that thread?

 

Hometown judges? They're fighting in California. To a Michigan cat, they might aswell be fighting in the Balkans.

Even if Dirrell goes 0-3, he has more talent in his pinky toe then the city of Nottingham has combined.

He'll be world champ, even if it doesnt happen in this tournament, but seeing as how he'll beat Abraham and Ward, I dont need to worry too much.

 

And who says talent is enough?

To be honest I don't know Dirrell well and Froch was the fight I saw him in, but his ring antics and his post-fight interview (whine) makes me think he needs to toughen up to be champ. And the curve is too steep in the Super 6. AA is a beast and Ward showed so much against Kessler - totally dominating a strong champ.

 

I went with Ward and Froch.

Froch loses to AA and Kessler, probably by KO to both of them. Of course he's a guy that can pull off a major upset out of nowhere, so we shall see.

I think Ward loses to Dirrell. Ward is smarter but has a disadvantage in athleticism and especially in power. If the fight goes 12 rounds, Ward wins it, but if there's a stoppage (which I think there will be), Dirrell will be the winner.

I'm also thinking Ward will lose to Taylor. Taylor struggles with tough guys who have a lot of power, and Ward has neither power or toughness. Taylor has been in with the best, many many times, which I think will negate Ward's phenomenal ring smarts. I'm picking Taylor to knock him out.

I think it'll end up with points as follows: Kessler 6, AA 8, Froch 2, Dirrell 3, Ward 2, Taylor 3.

Kessler and AA are making it to the semis for sure unless Kessler proves totally shot. The other 4 guys are going to have 1 win each, so knockouts are going to be huge. I'm not betting my car on things turning out this way, but it's just the way I think things will go given what we've seen so far.

 

I've tried explaining this concept to those outside of the U.S. The result? More name calling, of course. The truth is, separate states in the U.S., as far as boxing is concerned, are comparable to separate countries throughout the rest of the world. If you are not fighting in your home state, nobody cares about you. I'll go one better and be so bold as to say that some states are divided. Southern California fighters won't get preferential treatment in Northern California, and vice-versa. Here, hometown means homeTOWN...not home state or home country. Americans don't cling to the nationalistic ways that fans abroad cling to them. California is basically a neutral site for Dirrell and Abraham, as opposed to different areas in Germany, where EVERYONE is rooting for Abraham. I believe Abraham will have just as many fans in the house as Dirrell. California doesn't care about Dirrell anymore than Michigan cares about Ward. If Ward gave a crappy performance in Oakland, I'm not so sure Oakland (big, crazy, murderous city with no shortage of irrational people) wouldn't turn on him.

I don't see either of these guys winning another fight in the tournament. We shall see.

 

I see a lot of talk about how the "euro's" acted towards your predictions over Ward beating Kessler ect before the fight, but aint you doing the same by dismissing Froch so easily? If Froch wins is it justified to have someone post about how the "americans" acted about Froch? vicious cycle
