Aye cause he hadnt really fought anyone,right:-( I think Barrera could have beaten him if the clash of heads didnt happen
The cut obviously played a part in proceedings but I think Khan would have walked it anyway. Great matchmaking by FW & Dean Powell that one
Khan was going to win that fight anyway imo. That's why I didn't see it as that controversial, thought he was unlucky the clash of heads happened whilst others will probably say he was lucky. Barrera was past it and very fleshy.
Yeah Khan would have won Would have made hard work of it though, his confidence was still very fragile, but he'd have got home eventually That wasn't the real MAB in there though was it... way past it, and way too small for Khan
The cut shortened what would have been a relatively easy nights work. Khan was too big and too quick for a shopworn MAB.
it was always gona be interesting coz no1 was sure wat marco had left. im sure khan threw a 3 punch combo and marco ducked and slipped them with ease and after that came the cut. think khans leg buckled at 1 point in the fight to. think MAB wud have paced himself for the 12 rounds and took him out late on. both khans 12 rounders have been 1 way traffic. once marco started to land and take some out of khan he wudnt of lasted:bbb
His prime was at 122. Khan's prime is going to be at 140. Barrera ain't gonna beat Khan with such a disparity in size and weight. Not to mention speed. Bigger, stronger, faster - that's insurmountable.
I think he probably would have won but it was a disgrace that they let it go on until the fifth,it should have been stopped much earlier if it was khan with the cut it would have been
Thats basically my problem with the fight. Khan fought a perfect fight but the cut was no worse in the 5th round than it was when it originally happened. It was as though the referee waited until the 5th to stop it...hence why i think a rematch could have been done.
Yes, very easily. MAB too small and too old and sluggish. We always seem to remember Khan's weaknesses, but not his strengths. He's very skilled, has a good dig and exceptional handspeed. That gives Khan a shot against anyone - let alone this version of MAB - glass jaw or no glass jaw. Ihat jaw also means that he loses silly fights as well, but he is very, very talented indeed. At that weight, even MAB in his prime probably wouldn't win.
With that speed I think Khan's a nightmare for any fighter, especially now Roach has reminded him of the fundamentals he showed as a quite brilliant amateur. Doesn't mean that they can't beat him.
I think it would have been better for Khan if the cut never happened. I think would have outboxed him for even longer and stopped him late legitimately.
