Lets say Manny fight and wins against Yuri Foreman. It would be a belt at 154lbs and it would be against a young prime undefeated (but unproven) fighter. Would his win be more impressive than Floyd's win at 154lbs against a 34 year old legend in Oscar De La Hoya?
Well De la Hoya was ranked #1 in the division at the time...Foreman is the lucky one to hold a strap at 154 after he beat a bloated Santos. I still give Foreman credit, but when ur seen as a "tune up" fight for a boxer who's best weight right now is considered 140, then damn, that's sad
Pacquiao's win will only be impressive because of the size differential. Floyd will have beaten a better opponent.
Really? Do you think that the Oscar that fought Floyd would beat the Yuri that will fight Manny? :think
I think Oscar could come out of retirement right now and beat Yuri Foreman, although to be fair I've only seen Yuri fight once. I'll do some more research.
Wasn't Oscar only ranked 6th by the ring at 154 at the time? Foreman is coming off a win against Santos who isn't that much worse than the Mayorga that Oscar beat prior to the PBF bout....
Santos came off of more than a year of inactivity, looked as rusty as I have ever seen him and got dropped by a feather-fisted Foreman. DLH didnt fight for a year either but looked much better against Floyd than Santos did against Foreman.
