Bad fight. Clottey makes EVERYONE he fights look bad. Mayweather will point to the unevenful performance to boast himself up as usual. So even in winning (unless its a knockout) it may lower Pac's stock.

I didn't say he would knock him out. I actually said that Pac will win by late TKO or Decision but i think this is a legitimate test for Manny. What's with the *******s getting so defensive about everything?

OK, you got me, Clottey is an easy fight and has no business being in the same ring as Superman, Pacquiao. :-(

Not sure if anyones noticed but boxrec does show Clottey as Manny's next opponent.

*side note* Clottey and Akon are cousins.

aiken i agree with you and your post, pac and his team may be overlooking this fight because cotto beat clottey and is coming off a loss but if you look at the whole picture clearly this fight is a more tougher fight than the cotto fight

i keep seeing post saying oh cotto beat him, and pac just beat the **** out of cotto makes me even wonder if they have actually saw the fight:patsch

that fight with cotto was a draw at best imo, had that fight have been on a different venue we may have seen a different result.

And to people saying that its the usual just like how we thought hatton and cotto would beat him, you are dead wrong. I pick pac to win against hatton and cotto because they of their lack of durability, punch resistance and especially seeing how fragile cotto was that he cuts up easily against fighters who could bang(margo, clottey)

clottey is not a fragile cotto, not a face first hatton, and not a dehydrated old dlh. He is a big strong tough welter with solid defense. He's in his prime, and he was never outclass(close fight with margo, very very close fight with cotto)

Yes clottey has that weakness like lack of activty perhaps due to lack of stamina, slow footwork but as other posters pointed out he has good speed and perhaps speed on par with cotto. I don't understand the reasons why some people actually thought this is just some walk in the park for pacquiao, if pac wins this one i'd rate it higher than his win against cotto. Lets always remember cotto is just a name thats why you lot rate it so highly but not me, and style makes fights.

I completely agree with you man Clottey gets to much credit for being a punching bag for Margarito( he set a welterweight record for punches thrown) and Cotto a fight he should of one with the way Cotto's eye was looking. In both of those fights he could of clearly won but he finds some way to lose, mainly from refusing to throw and covering up.

One just needs to look at his fight with Corrales to see how good he is. He had a blown up lightweight fighting at welterweight hurt mulitiple times and couldn't put him away, he was just satisfied with throwing three hooks and covering up. :patsch

Thats the problem with clottey his whole career is based off of having close fights with boxers. He reminds me of Judah(with a better defense) he is good for maybe fourth rounds then he proceeds to cover up, and thinks that blocking punches will win him rounds.

this is an example of why people are seriously overrating cotto's power, the guy is a stalk and pound type of boxer puncher. Cotto does hit hard but just a slight above average. He can't hurt margarito with all the punches he's thrown thats why most of u think he's got some granite iron chin when an old mosley knock him out, he need to low blow zab judah a lot of times before he could take him out. Took him 5 rds to take out quintana while williams on the 2nd fight when he was focus he knock him out cold in the 1st rd.

You see when cotto's type of offense doesn't work he goes into backpedal mode(mosley, clottey, margo, pac) and the only reason he won those close fights with mosley and clottey is because he was able to steal some early rounds due to mosley being past his prime or simply lack of activity in clottey and those fights being held at NYC where it is a hometown advantage

I'm pretty sure some states have rehydration limits for title fights. I'm pretty sure New Jersey does. I still believe you should get in the ring at 'the weight' though. I guess I'm a dinosaur......

Exactly. The guy is just so basic and flawed, it boggles the mind how anyone can think he has a prayer of living with Pac.

clottey only had 3 losses and he still haven't been into many wars and plus two of those loses were close while zab has already been outclass so he is still way better than zab, i didn't see the baldomir fight i can't comment on that one. But i assume baldomir got lucky and clottey was winning that fight before the DQ. Will someone kindly tell me the story of that fight?

Tom Miller was the judge. I remember because he is from Youngstown. Well respected and does plenty of title and big fights because he is in demand.
