This fight was just before my time and i was just wondering what the build up for the fight was like?

I remember Larry giving full vent to feelings of bitterness and frustration. Some of the attitude he conveyed going in lead me to wonder if he might commit a crazy act in the ring, like trying to bite Tyson's ear off. For his part, I recall Mike as being relatively quiet, letting Holmes and Don King build things up. (Unlike Holmes, Tyson didn't seem to have a chip on his shoulder at that stage of his career.) These are just subjective personal impressions I had at the time.

Agree, although a lot of what Larry said before the fight about Mike came true. At that point in Tysons career, he was still very respectful towards old champions especially ones he had a great deal of respect for, and he admired Holmes a lot even going as far as saying he would have never have beaten him in his prime after smashing him in four rounds. :yep

I remember before the fight Holmes stated "Tyson better not elbow, me or I'm going to do something dirty right back to his ass". Also, as someone else mentioned Holmes predicted that Tyson would be dead or in jeal within five years.
