Liston was owned, body and soul, by the mob. As soon as his glory as champ was gone, and the dollars that went with it, they cashed out on him in the second fight.

Its very difficult to say , i will actually go with liston as i think Vlad has a stamina problem and heavyweights in that era were smaller , more agile and technically better , but that isnt anything against Vlad as he has done very well with steward and has improved.
i pick wlad.liston could punch,but he is slow,and wlad has great footwork.sonny could land a big one and hurt wlad,but i think it s more likely wlad outboxes him,or stops him late/liston quits. liston is used to be a bigger man,but he is small compared to wlad,except the reach,but there is too much of a height difference.
Liston has a strong jab, stronger than Wlads ? It's absolutely incredible how every time a past fighter is "matched up" with either Klitschko, they would totally demolish them, and suddenly they have all these stylistic advantages, strengthes and attributes you somehow never saw when they REALLY were in the ring. The long arms, strong jab, let alone fast steps you would need to jab with Wlad are an absolute myth, worse than Brother Grimms fairy tales. Liston was a slugger/swarmer with at times a crouching style, big for his time, but not by todays measures. He was most often fighting guys in the 180 to 200 lb range, who also most often had already several losses in their resume. Usually they were no match for him strengthwise, courtesy of the extremely underdeveloped athletic practices of the times before the 70s. Liston would be totally dwarfed by someone the size of Wlad in strength, reach and size, and he didn't have the explosive quickness of a Tyson as he never needed it when fighting the 190 lb fighters of his own height. It would be a jabbing massacre administered by Wlad, holding him whenever Liston comes near. It was , no question. thing is, no one is entirely sure how old Liston was by that time , concievably as old as mid forties which in those days would be like a guy fighting at 60 these days ! I picked Liston to be too heavy handed for Wlad but I guess it depends hwo liston deals with Wladimirs jab. If he can inside that , then yeah Wlad is beaten but could he ?
I think Wlad is super underated H2H but Liston is all wrong for him. Liston by devastating KO 3-4 after eating a bunch of jabs and a few rights on the way.
Klitschko by brutal KO. The little cub would not dare take such a fight. He would lose at the weigh in.
