He Grant, You lost your credibility with me with your ovious agenda and Bias but I have one question for you. How many Non-Black fighters are in your top 15 ATG heavyweights. I think I know the answer.
I do not base my selections on race, do you ? What is my obvious agenda ? Since you made the claim, be clear as to my motive . Are you saying I am anit-Rocky (which I am not) because he is white ? Set the record straight here please so there is no confusion.
Answer my question 1st and no I do not but I am curious to see where you rate Johnson and Jeffries and Dempsey, Max Baer, Floyd Patterson...then I will tell you what your agenda besides just being a troll
Valdez did cry robbery and there were things thrown in the ring. The winner of Valdez vs Moore got Marciano.
Has anyone , other than Bummy who was there(along with Dempsey v.s. Firpo) , see the fight ? When Bummy makes a definitive statement that Moore owned him twice and I heard outrage for Valdez being robbed I ask, has anyone else seen it? Does a tape exist ? I've read it was very close.
So many good points. People who under-rate Moore are ridiculous. Those 170+ KO's didn't happen by accident.
Repost of my comment to you on post #215. As I admitted, I am more of a casual fan, and don't claim to be any kind of an expert...especially compared to guys 'round here. My question still stands, though...who else could Marciano have fought instead of his actual opponents, that would make him more worthy in the eyes of his critics? Posters like Nay Sayer seem to be implying that Rocky was ducking more worthy contenders...
You are twisting words again...I never said I was there or for Dempsey vs Firpo other than tape...Moore beat Valdez 2 times and from most acounts it was all Moore, it was not like the beat down that Moore took from Marciano but it Archie could coast and turn it on when he wanted to, that was his style. In fact Valdez blew his last shot at getting a title shot when he was dropped and dominated by Satterfield who Moore also KO'd Are you saying Valdez should have gotten the shot over Moore. Archie also beat Bob Baker # 1 contender by KO and Baker beat Nino Valdez before that as well as Harold Johnson who beat Nino. Moore was a dominant presence at that time and most felt he was the premier challange. He was a title Holder at light heavy and did not show up in the Heavyweight ranking but Moore beat the best in the 2 divisions and between. So beween Moore beating Valdez 2 times by UD, the Moore Ko over Bob Baker who beat Nino 2 times and a KO over Harold Johnson who beat Nino and Moores Ko over Satterfeild who dominated Nino....dont you think Moore was the dominant challenger and in retrospect could anyone say any different
Chaney you are a very respectfull guy and humble but you are very well qualified to post with anyone one on this site. Its all opinion and facts.
I personaly have him at #6 on my all time heavyweight list. Now despite the feirce loyalty that Marciano enjoys from his fans on this site, what they actualy claim for him is eminently reasonable. These people are not ranking him at #1 and #2 on their heavyweight list they are generaly ranking him somwhere from #3 to #8. Whether you agree with them or not they suport their position with detailed and concise arguments, and do not try to agresivley export their position. The most vitriolic Marciano critics are nothing like the pro Marciano crowd or indeed like you. They make constant attacks upon Marciano, usualy using highly disrespectfull language, and are agresive in trying to force their views on others. Their attacks somtimes have an unplesant racial undertone, and they are devoid of any courtesy or decency. It is little wonder that a reaction has set in against them among Rocky Marciano's suporters.
That is awful. Do you rate purely on H2H? What is your criteria. I would like to see a full fledge top 20 list. My criteria is mostly accomplishments/achievements + resume, then to a lesser degree factor in skills/abilities (Pros/cons), and lastly just a 5% or so input on legacy, perception, impact, etc. I rank Rocky #3. And guess what, so does the ENTIRE ESB Classic section when we voted. Prince this is not a school yard where you need to stand with the crowd to back your own decision. If you feel Marciano was the all time number three heavyweight that's your opinion. Do you actually feel this board is the end all and by voting with it makes the opinion any more valid ? Jeeze. A handful of guys here really know their **** but too many are rejects that would be kicked off more discriminating boards with rules or barriers of entry. You actually feel Marciano was the third best heavyweight that ever lived ? Who are your one and two ?
Not trying to blend in. My Heavyweight list doesn't look like that. It is, however, quite a great coincidence that you claim Marciano is remarkably overrated and I have him ranked at the same spot the others on this board do. You're out of gun powder. Just put down the gun, there's no bullets in it anyway. Stop trolling with it, you're clearly getting desperate and looking quite pathetic. Where's your list anyway?
He grant, you do realize that I have never rated Marciano very highly, because I rate purely on a who beats who bases in a time machine. But click on the link and scroll down to my post if you want a rough idea of who I think is best. Note that Rocky didn't make my list. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150441&page=2
