When the Raj exited and created a seperate Muslim state thats when the Indian sub continenet went to pot. The British were masters at divideing and conquering. The resultant mess is the leagcy of imperialism and politcal interference from the Yanks.

    Just nuke the Americans.

The world would be a much safer place.

We ought to know through past experience not to go to war with that lot - everything they get involved with goes to ****ing pot, their soldiers are shite..... these nations don't have a problem with us, other than our association with the Yanks.

Khan is too good for his own good. The comments like 'what is he doing over there' sum up what kind of person he actually is, IMO. The vast majority of the rest of us wouldn't touch a place like that in this current climate with a barge-pole, but Khan is over there for a good cause and we only hear anything about it when a bomb is planted near where he is. Glad everyone is safe and the bomb was found, though.

Interestingly enough, Khan made a comment the other day about wanting to fight in Asia in the future (think he said India at the time, though) and I think that would be an amazing event for boxing provided everyone is kept safe.

Dont be so sure of that, when she was in power she was responsible for loads of extra judicial murders and state repression, she wasn't the angel the western media portrayed her. She made a lot of enemies with her actions, hence why she got shot.

Of course I'd take that over Al Queada anyday, lets be real. But an angel she wasn't.

Now this Amir Khan business is frightening. I feel sorry for him, he has much more pressure on his shoulders than any 23 year old ought to have.

I accept your point, this has always been a torrid region, but the tactics of imperialism made an already bad situation far far worse. We can't absolve ourselves of our guilt quite that easily I'm afraid.

Britain ****ed things up for people every where but things were always very shitty before we arrived and most of the time far worse than it was after we left.

The reason we were so successful in dividing and conquering is that these places hated the hell out of each other and had been killing each other on a huge scale for a very long time before we had even thought about paying them a visit.

And to be honest where would India be now if we had not brought them the English language? No corner shops and no jobs on the phone and neither Pakistan or India would have anything worthwhile to do without Cricket so in reality they got a good deal.

Pakistan in recent times has become very unstable, bombs and gun attacks can go off anywhere at anytime, terrorists are running around crazy doing as they like.

My Mum and Sister are flying out to Pakistan end of Feb for 2 weeks, I am really worried but they have to attend a family wedding. With all the recent bombing its a risk and we have told them to stay indoors as much as possible.

I can only hope and pray they come back safe.

oh here we go, white man's burden all over again.

You do know that in the 1840's the Indians were developping a textile industry that was beginning to rival Manchester and West Yorkshire, infact they were much cheaper goods and of equal if not better quality.

We put a stop to that by force.

I think that there's every chance that India's rise to superpower status was held back by a hundred years as a result of them being our colony. Yes we did bring many benefits to them, but only as long as it was useful for us to have a colony with good trains and fixed infastrcuture. We deliberately held back the growth of native Indian industries so that we wouldn't have to compete with them, because even though we made them better in many ways they weer still our colony and we didn't want to let them compete with us on a fair playing field.

I love how boxing just leads onto politics and history so easily, this is definitely the most political sport on earth.
