...And didn't do much AFTER THAT???

The names that stand out immediately:

    Ricardo Mayorga

Its kinda ironic that Mayorga bursted onto the scene by upsetting a fighter that just did the same thing a year earlier...Vernon Forrest. After victories over Forrest, he kinda became everyone's Comeback Fight after a big losses...Oscar (after losing to Hopkins, Tito also after losing to Hopkins and Mosley after losing to Cotto). Never did much after beating Forrest.

    Vernon "THE VIPER" Forrest
Had every thing he needed when he turned pro to be a star. Excellent amateur background, Tall, Athletic, Can Box with range, Can Punch and as Black American fighter had the right mix of SKILL AND HUMILITY that could have made him a "MEDIA DARLING" ala Ray Leonard. Wasn't cocky, arrogant or a show-off, just a solid fighter with skill. Everyone (Boxing Critics, Gurus and Forum Posters) will tell you that Shane Mosley always had trouble above 147lbs. Well Forrest WHIPPED Mosley convincingly at 147lbs...TWICE. But never achieved Boxing success many anticipated for him...R.I.P. VIPER!!!

    Carlos Baldomir

A virtual unknown outside of South America. In 2005 Floyd Mayweather and Zab Judah signed to fight in April of 2006. All Zab had to do was defeat Carlos Baldomir..."Easier said than done". Carlos Baldomir's beat-down of Judah gave him a Linear Title...and set him up for a nice payday with Floyd Mayweather, also fights with Vernon Forrest and Aruto Gatti...Now would these fights happened if Judah had done what everyone thought he was supposed to do...WIN CONVINCINGLY!!! Who knows???? But one things for sure...His win over Judah definitely put Baldomir's name on the map.

    Iran "The Blade" Barkley
Now don't get me wrong...I not taking anything away from "THE BLADE". Damn Good fighter. But early-on in his career, he was nothing to write home about...losing 3 of his first 12 fights. But after string of victories, he fought for the vacant WBA Middleweight Title against one of my favorite fighter Sambu Kalambay. And after he loss...Thomas Hearns was looking to defend his MW Title. And everyone assumed "The Hitman" would win easy...and for the first 2 rounds, it was going in that direction, Barkley had a severe cut, he had no other choice but the GO-DOWN SWINGING...THEN DAMN!!!! HEARNS WENT DOWN TWICE IN THE 3RD...AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE!!! Ring Magazine's UPSET OF THE YEAR 1988. Then after that Barkley cashed in....fights with Duran (Fight of the year 1989) Nigel Benn, Michael Nunn (All Losses) but the Hearns KO Put him on the SCENE/MAP.

And for the record...I don't think Boxing will NEVER reach the Level of Fights and Fighters of the Decade of the 1980's...Solid fighters that were ready to fight anybody AT ANY TIME. NO SHITTY NEGOTIATIONS AND PED'S!!

Well, I know you guys have more...SOUND OFF!!!

Mayorga already had a belt when he fought Forrest. He burst on the scene in the first 6-heads Lewis fight.

    Michael Bentt :patsch

That fight was hilarious.... Bentt was one punch away from being put into a coma, then fires a bomb out of nowhere that landed right on Morrison's chin

Pac's win over Barerra. Manny was virtually unknown before beating MAB
