Glass Jaws by division and analysis (top rated fighters)

    Heavyweight Champion
    : Hasim Rahman
Runner Up: Oleg Maskaev, Audley Harrison, Wladimir Klitschko, David Haye, Travis Walker

    Cruiserweight Champion: Enzo Maccarinelli
Runner Up: Steve Cunningham, Herbie Hide

Light Heavyweight Champion: Roy Jones Jr (p4p)
    Runner Up: Chad Dawson

    Super-Middleweight Champion: Jermain Taylor
Runner Up: Edison Miranda, Jaidon Codrington

    Middleweight Champion: Anthony Mundine
    Runner Up: David Lopez

    Light-Middleweight Champion: Kermit Cintron
    Runner Up: Saul Roman

    Welterweight Champion: Zab Judah
    Runner Up: Miguel Cotto

    Light-Welterweight Champion: Amir Khan (p4p)
Runner Up: Ricky Hatton, Dimitri Salita, Juan Diaz, Victor Ortiz

The first thing that stands out is that 140 seems to be the Glass Jaw hotspot of the divisions shall we say with joint #1 p4p Glass Mandible Amir Khan leading a host of some of the worst chins in boxing today.

I must admit, I did have a hard time with the Heavyweights being that there are some serious cases of Shattered Glass but in the end I went for Rahman due to his quitjob vs Toney and his most recent KO against Wlad. I did decide to give Fraudley a break being that he hasnt been sparked for a while but he will again if he faces anyone of note.

The Cruisers was pretty easy, Enzo Maccarinelli being only one of two fighters to be KO'd TWICE last year (other being Jermain Taylor) leads the way in front of Steve Cunningham who couldnt stand up for more than 5 seconds against Tomasz Adamek despite schooling him for most of the fight. Herbie Hide needs no explation one of the worst chins in boxing history and the only televised case of a fighter being knocked down by the wind generated by a punch (vs Vitali).

There wasnt really many to choose from with the LHW's as it is generally a stable division punch-resistance wise. Roy Jones takes the title (as well as p4p) for the embarrassing 1-round brutal stoppage loss to Danny Green. Chad Dawson take the silver for being knocked down by a jab and nearly getting KO'd by feather-fisted Glen Johnson.

The SMW's Jermain Taylor takes the title as only 1 of 2 fighters to be KO'd last year. I did switch him and Jaidon a few times being that Jermain was beaten by big punchers but in the end settled.

MW's new boy in the division Bumdine has tasted the canvas something like 3 times in his last 5 fights as well as being the holder of one of the funniest KO's in boxing history (vs Ottke).

LMW and WW self explainatory. Zab Judah one of the top worst chins and Kermit Cintron who is also a quitter. I KNOW im going to get stick from putting Cotto in but I honestly dont think after the 2 beatings that Cheato and Pac gave him, he will have anywhere near the same punch resistance.

Part 2 next week looking at the lower divisions. Thoughts?

See the highlighted text to see where you need improvement, so that you're not exposed as an armchair fan. Need to watch the sport before commenting. Ricky hatton doesn't have a china chin you muppet, and glen johnson isn't feather fisted you idiot.

Its always funny to me, someone who is probably a wimp, sitting behind his computer saying professional fighters have "glass jaws" and "feather fists"

I hate glass jaw threads.... Boxing takes a special kind of toughness over most sports and to be able to make it to the professional level is amazing in itself.

It takes alot of heart, so keep on laughing glass jaw freaks.

he doesn't...there is a difference between getting knocked down from being off balance and actually being hurt...you obviously don't understand the difference
