Mayweather Vs Mosley - I believe I'm missing something here

I think it's more meant to say
"of these 3, mosley came out on top, so he should fight floyd"

 

What? No no no. They were talking about the old if A beats B and B beats C it doesn't necessarily follow that A beats C, rule in boxing. Yet they were trying to do it with only 2 of the guys having fought, i.e Mosley/Cotto, and Mayweather having fought neither. Then with the addition of Margarito out of nowhere it became even more nonsensical, given that floyd hadn't fought him either. I guess what you could take out of the excercise is that it either makes it obvious that Floyd hasn't fought many top welters, or that it makes it obvious that those posters are slightly ******ed for trying to discredit a non-existent 'triangle' argument. I choose to take both.

 

The Mosley of the first DLH fight would wreck Floyd. The more recent Mosley still stands a good chance but I would favor Floyd 60/40 to win. Anyway, Cotto barely scraped by Mosley and at times seemed to outbox him, (though in a couple of rounds I had Mosley outboxing Cotto, I also had Mosley winning last time I watched that fight) because he had boxing skill but also the power to get Mosley's respect and keep Mosley at bay, Mayweather wouldn't have that. I also think Cotto has a better jab than Mayweather, which was one of the most effective tools he used against Mosley. Wright was able to out-box Mosley due to his superior height, strength, his southpaw style and his jab. Mayweather doesn't have the height, strength or southpaw advantages Wright had, nor is his jab as good as Wrights was (he also doesn't hit as hard). Forrest once again had a longer, better jab, than Mayweather, plus size, strength and power that Maywather lacks. Also, the deciding factor in the first fight from my perspective was the head-butt in the second round. Basically people who say Mosley would definitely lose to Mayweather because he has been "outboxed" before don't know what the **** they're talking about, and probably haven't watched Mosley's losing efforts.

 

Bottom line is Mosely's defense is too porous and he's not an accurate enough puncher to make up for that deficit. Floyd doesn't need to hurt him, he just needs to hit him and get out of the way. And Mosely doesn't have the footspeed or accuracy to make Floyd pay often enough to win that way. That's my take anyway. I'd still love to see them fight.

Mosely needs to get by Berto first, though.

 

That's fine, but people who say Mosley loses to Mayweather because he lost to Forrest/Wright/Cotto need to take another look at those fights to see why Mosley lost and realize that the major weapons those fighters had to use against Mosley Mayweather does not possess, specifically: size, physical strength and power. Not that Mayweather doesn't have his own weapons to use, and at this stage they would probably be enough to get the job done.

Also, how could you say that Mosley isn't accurate? Mosley is one of the most accurate power punchers I've ever seen. His connect percentage with power shots is damn near always close to 50%.

I thought it be his toughest fight
but I said the same about Mitchelle Gatti Hatton DelaHoya and just knew zab would beat him.

 

Mayweather would beat him. It would probably look a lot like the Judah fight but Floyd wouldn't come close to stopping mosely and mosely has more pop then judah so the few times he did catch floyd it would be pretty interesting. Plus you can pretty much bet Mosely would catch Floyd at least once cause if you watch Floyd fights you'll notice that most fighters that he fights actaully catch him pretty good at least a few times in the first couple of rounds.

Also franlky I'm interested in watching pretty much any Floyd vs guy with pulse fight cause at his age you never know when he's going to go off the diving board.

 

Im far more of a Mosley fan than a Mayweather fan, but I expect Mayweather would outbox Mosley.

It would be a good fight though, I would say 116-112 Mayweather, or something close to that.

Mayweather beats Mosley.

 

Provided Mosley beats Berto and Mayweather and wins his next fight ( lol ) it sounds like the two are going to link up in May while Pac is campaiging.. I bet the winner of this fight just may end up facing Pac towards the end of 2010 for a truly monumental clash(lets hope anyway).

The night is darkest before dawn.. Doesn't seem too far fetched of a scenario, and I think such would make a possible bout with Pac even more enticing to the public. 2010 could be a great year for boxing!

 

Mosleys had his day, his last hurrah was against Margo & he's not far of 40 so now we'll see floyd fight him seeing he's near on past it & beat him in a yawn fest but i don't see Mosley beating Berto.

 

Stop looking for reasons to criticise the man in my avatar and comment on the subject rather than trying to get cheap digs in.
